INTRODUCTION
Automation rules the world nowadays. It is a technique of
using computers or mobile phones in monitoring and
controlling the sample parameters of day to day life. Using the
concept of IOT we make sensors to communicate with each
other which are powerful in automation. The important aspect
of this prototype is that it saves cost and ensure safety. When
people try to make plantings and set up their own garden,
peoples worried about the maintenance of their gardens and in
result plants get destroyed. IOT provides solutions for various
problems and it allows things to be sensed or controlled
remotely in network infrastructure. IOT plays a vital role and
serves as a good companion for Plans.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
• It usually consists of a central microcontroller
to which other objects are connected. The
smart garden consist of NodeMCU as a hub
to which diffract types of sensors such as
moisture sensor, humidity sensor, temperature
sensor and ultra sound sensor are connected.
• The ultra sound sensor is connected to a
water tank which indicated the level of water
in the tank. Other sensor are connected to
their respective positions and these sensor
send the data to NodeMCU which consist of
an inbuilt Wi-Fi technology.

5
PROPOSED SYSTEM
• Firebase is a database available on the
internet in which real-time values of the
sensor are updated every second. Android
application is developing using android
studio software. Within the software, the
connectivity between the application the
firebase will be made. So, the user can
monitor the parameters from anywhere.
• Whenever the user finds need of watering
the garden, a switch in the application
will automate the process. This helps in
complete maintenance of the garden. The
sensors are predetermined for automation
process inside the software.

6
SENSORS
The devices which converts electrical
signals into the digital signals are
known as sensors. There are several
different types of sensor used in smart Moisture Sensor
Garden monitoring system listed
below.
Ultrasonic
• Humidity sensor – Measure the humidity of Sensor
soil.
• Temperature Sensor – measure temperature
Temperature Sensor
of soil.
• Ultrasonic sensor – measure the water level
in the tank.
• Moisture sensor – measure the moisture Humidity Sensor
content of the soil.

7
NodeMCU
• Smart Garden includes NodeMCU as a
hub. It open source for IoT platform. It
runs on ESP82266 Wi-Fi SoC from
Espessif system. And its hardware is
based on ESP-12 module. It is a single-
board microcontroller consist of
128kBytes of memory and 4Mbytes of
storage.
• It was designed for easy programming
allows us to easily prototyping the data.
There are essentially 3 way to built
NodeMCU
1. Cloud built service
2. Docker image
3. Linux build environment

MOBILE APP
9
FIRE BASE
• It is a mobile and web app
development platform owned by
google. Its basic functions are
analytics, databases, messaging and
crash reporting. It is easy to integrate
firebase with IOS, Android, and the
Web.
• API (Application program interface) are
packaged into a single SDK (Software
development kit) so it can be expended
to more platforms.
• The real-time value from the sensors
are uploaded to firebase through
NodeMCU.

10
ARDUINO
• The Arduino software provides a better
Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for
programming NodeMCU. It is a cross-
platform application written In Java.
• The board in the software should be
changed to NodeMCU from Arduino and
the libraries from NodeMCU should be
included in the software.
• The board is tested with the blinking
LED, and then the program for Smart
Garden is written. The program is known
as the Sketch is saved with the File
Extension .ino5

11
ANDROID STUDIO
• It is an open-source integrated
development environment for building
Android applications developed by
JetBrains. It uses the programming
language Java, Kotlin, and Python. It
owns Device to run and debug
applications in Android studio.
• This app consists of a login screen
followed by the home screen. It consists
of various event for automating the
Smart Garden. This allow the user to
control Smart Garden System via locally
or remotely. It pushes notifications and
user have all reports about the system.

12
AUTOMATIC REMOTE
LAWN MOWER

• Mowing the lawn is the most

thankless job to maintain garden.
IoT makes out work easy, fast, and
reliable.
• This auto lawn mower works much
like a vacuum cleaner that runs on a
mobile application set up your
program and leave it to the ground.
• It can navigate the obstacles and
even has a PIN code so children
can’t switch it on.

13
Wi-Fi SMART SPRINKLER
• The sprinkler also controlled by
mobile app. It analyzes soil, plant
types, and weather forecasts.
• It uses the data to create a
customized watering plan. It saves
water by not watering before it’s
about to plan.

14
• The implementation of Smart Garden
Monitoring System using the IoT has
been successfully work by connecting
different parameters of the soil to the
cloud and was controlled through
application.
• It not only monitor sensors data it also
actuates other parameters according to
the requirement, e.g. automatic motor
on/off according to tank level.
• This system saves manpower and
efficiently utilizes the water resources
available ultimately leading to profit.
• System installation is cheap and hence
can be implement anywhere.
