Definition of Advertising

Advertising is a paid persuasive communication


that uses non personal media to reach broad
audiences to connect an identified sponsor with a
target audience.
Five Basic Components of Advertising
1. It is a paid form of communication.
2. The sponsor is identified.
3. It tries to persuade or influence the consumer to
do something.
4. It reaches a large audience of potential
consumers.
5. The message is conveyed through many different
kinds of non personal mass media.
Importance of Advertising
1. It creates brand awareness and knowledge
of new products or new features of existing
products.
2. It creates liking, preferences, conviction
and purchase of a product or service.
3. It stimulates repeat purchase of products and
services.
4. It convinces current purchasers that they
made the right choice.
