friends and family. If she hadn’t been determined to overcome her disability, she wouldn’t be attending a 4 year college. Ashley’s condition affects her mobility in the campus, since she has to drive her wheelchair carefully and sometimes the weather conditions are too extreme for her to move. However, she was able to adapt and she goes the extra mile to be at college fifteen or twenty minutes before classes to avoid the crowd and be on time. If she weren’t able to adapt to these situations, she wouldn’t start classes on time. Ashley is open-minded and has a very positive attitude towards life. She thinks her skills are enough to be a college student. Although it is definitely hard to be all the day driving a wheelchair, she stays positive and goes with the flow. If she didn’t have such a positive attitude towards life, she would have failed in many daily situations she can handle now. In addition, my job requires a lot of mobility in cultivations and agriculture so if I had to use a wheelchair, it would be more difficult for me to adapt to my work. It would be very hard for me to find the courage to deal with that situation. When I have to interact with a handicapped person I go with the flow. If that person needs my help, I will help with pleasure. I consider myself as a flexible person, so I always have the determination to help people and be friendly. If I could contribute to improve the life of handicapped people in some way, I would chose to treat them with kindness and respect. That is to say, I could adapt myself to their needs instead of ignoring them. I would help them if they need my help, but I would also give them space if they need it.
