ECLIPSES

an obscuring of the light from one celestial body

by the passage of another between it and the
observer or between it and its source of
illumination.
An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured, either
by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the viewer.
This alignment of three celestial objects is known as a syzygy.[1] Apart from syzygy, the term eclipse is also
used when a spacecraft reaches a position where it can observe two celestial bodies so aligned. An eclipse
is the result of either an occultation (completely hidden) or a transit (partially hidden).

Total Solar Eclipse forming

The eclipse has two kinds of eclipses

Lunar Eclipse Solar Eclipse

an eclipse in which the moon appears darkened an eclipse in which the sun is obscured by the moon.
as it passes into the earth's shadow.

Total Solar Eclipse

A total solar eclipse occurred on July 22, 2009. It was the

longest total solar eclipse during the 21st century. It lasted a
maximum of 6 minutes and 39 seconds off the coast of Southeast
Asia, causing tourist interest in eastern China, Pakistan, Japan,
India, Nepal and Bangladesh
Annular Solar Eclipse

An annular solar eclipse(top) occurs when the Moon is too far away to completely cover
Partial Solar Eclipse
the Sun's disk (May 20, 2012). During a partial solar eclipse (Bottom), the Moon blocks
only part of the Sun's disk (October 23, 2014).
Total Lunar Eclipse

Totality during the lunar eclipse of 27 July 2018. Direct sunlight is being
blocked by the Earth, and the only light reaching it is sunlight refracted by
Earth's atmosphere, producing a reddish color.

Partial Lunar Eclipse

(Could not find the place of time and occurrence)A partial lunar
eclipse happens when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Full
Moon, but they are not precisely aligned. Only part of the Moon's
visible surface moves into the dark part of the Earth's shadow.
Penumbral Lunar Eclipse
(Could not find the place of time and occurrence)A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs
when the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are imperfectly aligned. When this happens, the
Earth blocks some of the Sun's light from directly reaching the Moon's surface and
covers all or part of the Moon with the outer part of its shadow, also known as
the penumbra. Since the penumbra is much fainter than the dark core of the Earth's
shadow, the umbra, a penumbral eclipse of the Moon is often difficult to tell apart
from a normal Full Moon.
