S6a Interface

 This interface lies between HSS and MME and serves the
following features:
• Transport of subscriber related data.
• Transport of location information.
• Authorizing a user to grant access to EPS.
• Transport of authentication information.

 IDR: IDR/IDA messages are used between HSS and MME/SGSN.


HSS triggers IDR for any of the following reasons.
1) If there is an administrative change in subscription of an attached
subscriber.
2) To apply, change or remove operator determined barring to a
subscriber

It is invoked by HSS only when Subscriber is attached and some data is


deleted at HSS. Now HSS informs MME with this message that some part of
subscription data is deleted at HSS.

Ro Interface

 Online charging, also known as credit-based charging, is used to


charge prepaid services. The Ro protocol allows a Charging
Trigger Function (CTF) to issue charging events to an Online
Charging Function (OCF). The charging events can be immediate,
event-based, or session-based.

Wx Interface

 The Wx reference point are located between 3GPP AAA Server


and HSS and is used for transport of authentication, subscription
and PDN connection related data. The Wx interface is used for
3GPP UMTS networks.

Gx Interface

 The Gx interface lies between PCRF and the PCEF and


serves the following features:
• Enables the signalling of PCC decisions.
• Negotiation of IP-CAN bearer establishment.
• Termination of Gx session.

Troubleshooting

 To check peers:
 Login to Prod. DCA/DMA shell.
 Run command ‘listDiameterPeers.sh –s’.
 All the connected peers status should be ‘True’.
 To check Routes:
 Login to Prod. DCA/DMA shell.
 Run command ‘listDiameterRoutes.sh –s’.
 Check the routes status.
 To Check Overload:
 Check the RAC Server logs at the following path:
 /opt/tpa/logs

 Check Diamon for alerts.
