IMPLIED CONDITIONALS

Conditions are not always expressed in the form of conditional

clauses, particularly in spoken English. They can be expressed in
another way or they may be evident from the context. The rules
for the verb usage are still followed in the result clause (main
clause).

Result clause

The implied condition if I were not busy now

>> I could help you if I were not busy now.

I would not stand here today without their support.

Result clause

The implied condition if they did not give their support

>> I would not stand here today if they did not give their support.

He told me the truth. Otherwise, I would have been angry.

Result clause

The implied condition if he had not told me the truth.

>> If he had not told me the truth, I would have been angry.
