DECLARATION OF

PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE
• On June 12th 1898 In kawit Cavite
• The Philippine flag was raised and with the
Philippine national anthem was play
• The Declaration was prepared by Ambrosio
Riazares Bautista
• The declaration was signed by 98 people among
them a United States Army officer who witnessed
the declaration
• August 1896 start a revolution
• Ferdinand Magellan who landed the shore of Cebu ,
where Magellan was killed by chief kalipulako (
known as Lapu-Lapu)
• Chief Sikatuna he went to Manilla
• After the destruction of the Spanish squadron by
North American Navy and Bombardment of the
plaza of cavite
• Spanish contigent of 178 men between Imus and
Kawit Cavite under the command of major of the
Marine Infantry capitulated, the revolutionary
movement spreading like wild fire.
• City of Manila will soon be besiege by our Force as
well as the province of.
• The revolution at the time of the pacification and

country and the revindication of our sovereignty is
assured
• And lastly, it was resolved unanimously that this
nation, already free and independent as of this day

Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Laguna and Batanggas

AGAINST GENERAL WOOD

Independence
• Leonardo wood ( United States Army major General
Physician and Public official. Served as the chief of
staff of United States Army, military Governor of
Cuban and Governor General of the Philippines)
• 1898 battle of Manila ; start of relationship
between American & Philippine partnership
• until the time of General Wood sent to Philippine
as Governor General
• He changed the law and make a body control or
system where they would be superior
• He refused his assent to laws which were the most
wholesome and necessary for the public good.
• He has not at naught both the legal authority and
responsibility for the Philippine heads of
department.
• He has substituted his constitutional advisers for a
group of military attches without legal standing in
the government and not responsible to the people.
• He has reserved the policy of Filipinizing the service
of the government by appointing American even
when Filipino of proven capacity were available
• He has obstructed the carrying out of national
economics policies duly adopted by the legislature,
merely because they are conflict with his personal
view
• In executive order No. 37 Declaring that the laws
creating and defining the power of the Board of
Control Which is authorized to vote the stocks
owned by the government in certain private
corporation, are absolute nullities.
• The laws creating and defining the power of the
Board of Control have been in force and acted upon
by the present Governor General and other officers
of the government for a number of years, and they
have neither been replaced by the legislature
