Why Safety?

Everyone has a question that why design engineer has to think on Safety
Ya it is required for every design engineer must ensure the safety in automotive at
concept stage it self.

Classification of Automotive Safety Systems

SAFETY SYSTEMS
Active safety system

Active safety seeks to minimize the chances of having an accident while circulating
in a road.

Active safety features are those that help to prevent or mitigate road crashes.

Anti Lock Braking System
As the name signifies, the anti-lock braking system is a safety system in cars
and other automobiles that keeps their wheels from locking up and helps their
drivers to maintain steering control.
Adaptive cruise control
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) is an available cruise control system for road
vehicles that automatically adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance
from vehicles ahead.

Lane Departure Warning
lane departure warning system is a mechanism designed to warn the
driver when the vehicle begins to move out of its lane (unless a turn signal is
on in that direction) on freeways and arterial roads.
Passive safety system

Passive safety is referred as secondary safety which is installed in a physical form

Passive safety seeks to minimize the impact caused to the occupants at the time of
accident.
Seat Belt
A seat belt (also known as a seatbelt or safety belt) is a vehicle safety device
designed to secure the occupant of a vehicle against harmful movement that may
result during a collision or a sudden stop.
Lap Belts Sashes or Shoulder Belts Three-Point Belts
Air Bags

An Airbag is a vehicle occupant restraint system using a bag designed to

inflate extremely rapidly then quickly deflate during a collision
Fuel cut off switch
A Fuel cut off switch is a switch, firmly mounted upon a vehicle or other mobile
device, that triggers in the event of shock or vibration. It is a part of electrical
circuits that may either enable or disable some function.

Laminated Wind Shield
Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In
the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically of polyvinyl
butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), between its two or more layers of
glass.

Conclusion
 The recent trend of design and manufacturing engineers
shows keen interest in safety.

 The weakest and harzdous part is glass in automotive car

made safety to avoid serious injury.

 With these kind of improved technology will pay way of

usage of large number of cars.
Maximize safety devices to minimize Accidents and automotive part
damage.
