1
WHAT IS WEB 2.0?

Web 2.0 is the second generation of the world wide web

containing online software programs that allow users to
teach curriculum content, store data, create/edit video,
edit photos and so much more.

Some examples of Web 2.0 are free web-based

email, spreadsheeting, online radio, photo
gallery services, word processing and online
banking.

Google AutoDraw "A drawing tool that pairs the
magic of machine learning
with drawings from artists to
help everyone create
anything visual, fast.”

The Web 2.0 tool that I’m presenting is Google AutoDraw. AutoDraw is a tool that has been
developed by Google's Creative Lab, with the purpose of helping people draw on their computers,
tablets, and smartphones using Artificial Intelligence to try and recognize your doodle. 3

HOW IT WORKS

5
FEATURES AND CAPABILITIES
AutoDraw shows the powerful capabilities of machine learning. It has the full suite of tools you’d
expect from a basic editor, including moveable and resizable shapes, fill tools, text and colors - as
well as the option to download your co-creations. As for the tech behind it, every time you doodle
something and Google gets it right (because you picked something it suggested) you’ve helped the
search giant learn a little more - and take one step closer to robo-domination.

7
EDUCATIONAL
USES
AutoDraw is a great tool to help students develop visual iconographies. It can be used for
educational purposes by helping to develop sketch notes, depict scenes from literature, represent a
cell, or storyboard historical events.

AutoDraw will be especially helpful for younger students who consider themselves artistically
challenged.

This is a fun tool that can be used by kids in the kindergarten and primary schools. It will be
interesting to include it into elementary curriculum for children as well.

8
POSSIBLE PRACTICES
AutoDraw may be used for Sketch notes Infographics, illustrating a story, creating a scene, desktop
publishing (flyer, poster) and creative drawing (birthday cards or posters). This tool will help people
gain control by evolving their ideas into simple open source icons that are easy to use. People can
download them as .png files and import right into their favorite image editor.

9
ADVANTAGES
Uses artificial intelligence (AI) to interpret your drawings and let you
replace them with more professional images;

Works on any device including computers, laptops, Chromebooks,

phones, and tablets;

Very simple to use;

Includes basic drawing tools such as freehand drawing, adding shapes,

adding text, filling colors, and resizing and rotating items;

Can share or download final product;

10
It's free!
DISADVANTAGES

Lacks more advanced functions when

compared to other drawing tools, such as
no ability to change the order of objects;
No option to save multiple drawings for
future editing;
Not collaborative.
