• Language belonging to Uralic Samoyedic Family spoken in


Northern Russia
• As per 2010 data, it was spoken by only 120 Nganasan people.
• Digikieli Project aims to digitize this endangered language.
• Developing digital tools to learn and preserve it

Target User Groups

• Primary school children aged 6-12 years old.


• Familiarity with Russian language.
• The ethnic community wants to pass on the language to
younger generation.

Design Challenges and Solutions

• Target user group is not easily accessible.


• Limited language related resources.
• DigiKieli Application has adopted local customs and icons
in the representations and examples.
• Use of audio and visual icons to help with learning.
