Processes
• Additive Manufacturing: The term additive
manufacturing refers to technologies that
create objects through a sequential
layering process. Objects that are
manufactured additively can be used
anywhere throughout the product life cycle
• Subtractive Manufacturing: It is a process
by which 3D objects are created by
successively cutting material away from a
solid block of material.Objects become job
specific and are hard to reuse.
What is 3D Printing?
• It is a additive manufacturing
process that creates a physical
object from a digital design.
OR
• 3D printing is a process of making a
three-dimensional solid object of
virtually any shape from a digital
model. 3D printing is achieved using
an additive process, where
successive layers of material are laid
down in different shapes.
History
What’s almost 40 years old but
looks brand new ? Believe it or
not, it’s 3D printing
