In the teaching-learning process, the
most important constituent is the
learner. Without the learner, there is no
teaching. Teachers have the
responsibility to cause pupils to learn --
and this begins with knowing the
learners.
The LEARNER’S HEART
Feelers, talkers, extroverts, people-
persons, the sanguine imaginative learners,
and the deviants
Feelers are those who learn based on how
they feel; they are the ones who ask the
“Why” and the “Why should I learn this” in
the learning-teaching process. This is the
affective domain of learning. Once they
feel good about the learning, they are
highly motivated
The LEARNER’S HEAD
In the head-cognitive domain belong the
intrapersonal, reflective, introvert, audio-visual,
analytic, melancholic and assimilator learners
These are the teachers’ pets because they listen
attentively while teachers lecture
They “always” seem ready to learn, coming to class
having read their assigned lessons in advance and
just ready to ask highly critical questions of the
concepts they don’t understand
The LEARNER’S HAND
The hand learners are the doers, prac-titioners,
aptitude, learners, psychomotor skills, the tactile,
the practical persons, the common-sense
learners, the phlegmatic, the sensing, and the
convergent learners
These learners do not appreciate long lectures.
For them, “moving” is better than “sleeping” in
the classroom. They are easily bored when it’s all
concepts and no activity.
The LEARNER’S HABITS
The habit learners are the intuitive-interactive learners,
also known as dynamic learners and accommodators
They are the planners, projectionists, product oriented,
the extroverts, the dominant, the choleric, the leaders,
and the catalysts
Habit learners love projects. They want to plan out
what they have learned. They are happy to create new
things from lessons presented.
