Laboratory at major civil engineering

state university of malang
 What we do beside study at the class?
Beside learning theory in the classroom, in Civil Engineering we also
applying the existing knowledge by practicing in the laboratory.
Some laboratories in UM civil engineering :
1. Hydraulics Laboratory
2. Material Testing Laboratory
 1. Hydraulics Laboratory
• Hydraulics laboratory is one of the basics
laboratories at majors civil engineering state
university of malang. Several courses using
this facility like fluid mechanics, hydraulics,
and hydrological engineering.
• In addition, the laboratory hydraulics also
accommodating three research laboratories
that is river engineering research laboratory,
coastal engineering research laboratory and
offshore structure research laboratory.
2.Material Testing Laboratory
• Material testing laboratory support courses directly related to
activities in the material testing laboratory are the Material and Heat
Treatment and Surface Material courses.
• In these courses there are the basics of the heat treatment process,
that is process heating, holding, cooling and what is the condition of
the material that has gone through the heat treatment process
3. Road and Pavement Laboratory
• This laboratory supports instructional activities in the field of asphalt
and the characterization of mixed asphalt. Research on the analysis
and evaluation of innovative pavement and pavement performance is
also carried out in this laboratory.
4. Structure Laboratory
• Structure Laboratory Aside from being a supporting academic facility
for students, the Structural Lab also serves the testing of structural
elements composing a building / building, road and bridge from an
institution both private and government in accordance with
applicable procedures.
5. Soil Mechanics Laboratory
This laboratory is used by students in practicing soil mechanics. The
laboratory also conducts a lot of research in the fields of soil properties
and characterization, soil improvement, foundation and underground
engineering, soil behavior and modeling. This laboratory is equipped
with laboratory and field tools to serve students in conducting soil
investigations, designing foundations and basements, and technical in
soil improvement.
6. CAD Laboratory
• The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Laboratory at Malang State
University is used for drawing training for students in recognizing
drawings (CAD) using digital equipment, which emphasizes the ability
to read pictures and draw according to standards in force in the
engineering world.
