- Accurate understandings and perceptions of degree will change


behavior in a positive way, help parents find proper views and
efficiency solutions to promote students’ intrinsic motivations, so that
they can develop social skills, self-study and integrating skills.

- If parents orientate mastery goals for students, they are more likely to
succeed in life.

- What is success? Is there a relationship between success and degrees?
Is parents’ role essential to children’s success?
- What are degrees? How many types of degrees are there? Do degrees
decide success?
- How are people’s awarenesses and parents’ expectations related to
degrees’ impact and social behaviors nowadays?
- What are the features of the relationship between parents’ aims and
students’ motivations and self-efficacy? What is the relationship
between parents’ objectives and students’ intrinsic motivations,
self-confidence and GPAs?
- Why is there a relationship between parents’ perceptions and
children’s degrees?
II. METHOD

 Survey on 498 parents, students in 4 High Schools and Colleges.

 Compare to Americas’ criteria to find:

 Differences in perceptions between American parents and Vietnamese parents.

 Parents’ influences to children’s opinion and developments.

IV. CONCLUSION AND FURTHER RESEARCH
 1. Conclusion

- Until now, America still has the most developed education in the world.

- Therefore, a nation with a ratio of 80% college-graduated civilians must


have the exact perceptions and high degrees.

- However, America’s unemployment ratio is not as low as we had thought.

- Compare to Viet Nam, surprisingly, most parents decide children’s


degrees and future school.

- Degrees are just an economic satisfaction of parents.


IV. CONCLUSION AND FURTHER RESEARCH
 1. Conclusion

- It is necessary to change parents’ orientation methods by providing


knowledge of job requirements.

- Change people’s perceptions by giving out success symbol without


degrees (additional factors) or failure even though had degrees.

- Making impact on parents’ modern perceptions by providing


understanding of relationship between individual’s success in society
and degrees.
- Suggest solutions which have impact on students’ perceptions in
order to stimulate active in all aspects of life, including job and
degrees-choosing.
