Chapter 1
ISSUES BACKGROUND

Education is one effort in preparing qualified human

resources in accordance with the demands of nation
building. The manifestation of qualified human
resources is the responsibility of education, especially
in terms of preparing students who have advantages
and professionals in their respective fields.
However, there are still some major problems in the
learning process itself is still a barrier experienced by
students and educators to achieve maximum learning
outcomes.
ISSUES BACKGROUND

There are several factors that influence student

learning outcomes. The first factor who also influences
learning outcomes is learning independence. Latest
research Sitti Fitriana, Hisham Ihsan , and Suwardi
Annas explain that the independence of learning is a
matter that needs to be developed in students as
individuals who are positioned as learners.
ISSUES BACKGROUND

Another factor that can affect student learning outcomes

is interest in learning. This interest determine the feelings
and willingness of students in learning. The interest in
learning in the students will make students interested to learn
a lesson seriously so tend to get the expected learning
results.
As the results of observations in MAN 9 Jakarta, it is
known that the results of study subjects Economics class XI
IPS students in MAN 9 Jakarta tend to be low. This can be
seen from the results of mid semester of students who still
get a lot of value under the KKM is less than 7.5.
ISSUES BACKGROUND

Value

Based on Table it is seen that the 2 classes are rated below the criteria minimum
KKM. The highest average score is 70.9 and the lowest average score is 69.2. The table
above shows that 53.5% of 71 students that is as much as 38 students got the Mid
Semester under the Criteria Minimum.

CHAPTER 2
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

Learning Outcomes

• M. Thobrony confirmed that the learning outcomes is

an overall behavioral change not just one aspect of
human potential alone.

• Nana Sudjana argues that the result of student learning

is essentially a change of behavior. Behavior in
question is a behavior that includes the field of
cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

Based on some opinions as has been described can be

concluded that the learning outcome is a capability
obtained by the students of the effort to increase the
mastery of basic knowledge and skills that exist in
various aspects of life, causing a change in behavior as
a result of the learning process.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

Factor Affecting Learning Outcome

Kompri confirmed that the learning outcomes are

influenced by two factors: internal factors and external
factors. Internal factors include physiological factors,,
student intelligence, motivation, interests, attitudes, and
talents. External factors include the natural
environment and the social environment, while the non
social or instrumental environment is the curriculum,
program, learning facilities, and teachers.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

Learning Independence
• Johnson and Medinnus defines independence is a
feature of maturity that allows the individual
to function autonomously and strive to achieve
personal achievement and attainment of a goal.
• Erikson came to the conclusion that independence
was an attempt to escape from the parents in order to
find himself through the process of seeking the
identity of the ego, which is the development
of a steady and independent individuality of
individuality.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

Arthur T. Jersild states that learning is "modification of

behavior through experience and training" that changes or
brings about changes in behavior in education because of
experience and practice or because of training.

Based on the descriptions related to independence and learning

it can be concluded that the independence of learning is a
process of learning conducted by individuals without relying
on others and based on a sense of responsibility, confidence,
and initiative to master certain competencies in the knowledge,
skills, as well as attitude in solving learning problems.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

As has been described in reference to previous theories

and research, the indicators of learning independenced
are used in this study are responsible, initiative, and
confident.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

Learning Interest

According to Djaali interest can be expressed through a statement

that indicates that the student prefers something more than anything
else, can also be manifested through participation in an activity.

Slameto argues that interest in learning is a passion for interest in a

lesson or activity without anyone telling, it is essentially the
acceptance of the relationship between oneself withan outer self,
the more powerful or closer the relationship is the greater his
interest.
CONCEPTUAL DESCRIPTION

• Based on the description of several theories above

can be concluded that the interest of learning is an
interest possessed by students to a lesson that is
accompanied by the more attention in doing learning
activities.

• According to some theories that have been described

above then indicators of interest in learning are
used in this study are: (1) Attention in learning; (2)
Interested in learning ; (3) Active participation.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

1. The Influence of Learning Independence on Economic Learning

Outcomes
According to Gamar Assagaf independence of a person in learning will
determine the independence learning and learning outcomes of a
person. Independence will make a student able to learn alone without
being asked by outsiders in the test conditions or not the exam.

According to Sitti Fitriana, Hisham Ihsan, and Suwardi Annas stated

that students' independence in learning is one of the important factors to
achieve good learning result because students who have high
learning independence will try to complete the exercises or tasks given
by teachers with the ability they have and not depending on others
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

2. The Influence of Learning Interest on Economic Learning

Outcomes

According to Meita Satri Prihatin interest is a motivational tool that

can inspire the spirit of student learning, thus making students
become more excited and eager to learn. Therefore, the existence of
interest in learning in students will greatly affect the achievement of
student learning outcomes.

Willian James who states that interest in learning is a major factor

that determines the degree of student learning activity and interest is
a factor that has a significant effect on the success of learning.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

3. The Influence of Learning Independence and

Learning Interest on Learning Outcomes Economic
Subject.

The results of research conducted by Syamsu Hadi and

Fitriana Salis Farida revealed that there is an influence
between interest, independence, and student learning
resources simultaneously to the learning achievement.
