REVIEW OF LITERATURE AND THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

A. Previous Study
BINGOL (2014) conducted with the title “Listening Comprehension Difficulties
Encountered By Students In Second Learning Class”. He concluded most
universities teaching language is English. Therefore students listen and understand
the lectures. Teacher should teach the students appropriate listening strategies. There
is no an ideal methods that fits all kinds of clauses. But we should finds our students
limit, diagnose their capacity and find out the factors that may influence their
listening comprehension. Then we way offer them to complete different type of
activities. Listening task should involve progress from fundamental to more
complex as the student obtains in language ability.

SONDONG (2015) conducted with the title “The Problem Faced By The Fourth
Semester Students Of English Department Of UKI TORAJA In Listening
Comprehension”. The result from the research show that the problem faced by the
fourth semester students of English Department of UKI TORAJA in listening
comprehension as follow; (1). The listeneris not always possible to have words
repeated, (2). The listener think listening is very challenging to study, (3).The
listener encounter various kinds of listening problems in learning listening
comprehension such as unfamiliar words, the lenght of the spoken text, speed rate, a
variety of accents, lack of concentration and pronunciation,and (4). The listener
usually not recognize the signal of speaker use when he move from one point to
another.
B. Review of related Literature
1. Defenition of listening
Donoghua in To’ Upa’ (2013: 6)”stated the listening is learned recepted skill,a
personal,often private absorption of ideas and attitude expressed skill through oral
language”
Michael Rost in To’ Upa’ (2013: 6) “stated the listening comprehension is
listening with understanding it emphasize language skill beyond basic auditory
discrimination and oral grammar”.
Oxfort in Sondang (2015: 7) “Listening is a complex problem solving skill and it
is more than just perception of the sounds. Listening includes comprehension of
meaning words, phrase, clauses, sentences and connected discourse”
According to bulletin in Saricobon in Siregar (2013: 6) “Listening is one of the
fundamental languaage skills”. From the defenition above we can say that
listening is the ability to identify and understanding what others are saying.

RESEARCH METHOD AND PROCEDURE

A.Setting
The writer will do the research at at SMA Negeri 1 Sangalla’.
B.Participant and Subject
1.Participant
The population of this research are the student who sit in language class of SMA Negeri 1
Sangalla consist of 10 students and devided into one class.
2.Subject
The subject in this research are the students in class XI A the writer will use purposive
sampling

1. The first the writer will choose the students who will serve as subject in research and than the writer.
2. The second the writer after choosing the subject will conduct interview semi structure to students who

learning listening
4. the writer will draw a conclusion based on data that has been processed and the conclusion is the
answer of the problem formulation.
