Physical Education
is an integral part of the educational program
designed to promote the optimum development
of an individual physically, mentally, socially,
emotionally and spiritual through body
movement in the performance of properly
selected physical activities (Andin3)

The development of the various
organic system of the body is
necessary for an individual to
have the ability to sustain efforts,
to recover and to resist fatigue.
It is concerned with helping the
individual in making personal
adjustments, group adjustments,
and adjusments as a member of
society
Through physical activities the
students gradually learn to manage
their selves and act wisely with
courage when exposed in a stressful
and emotional situations
Throught physical education activities the
learners acquire knowledge and
understanding of rules and strategies of
the games, sports and dance instructions.
Varied activities in PE help the students
develop their ability to analyze body
movements, skills and game situations.
Physical Education can highlight the
importance of spiritual concepts like critical
awareness, contemplation, purposeful
living, nature acceptance, transparency,
tolerance, resiliency, experience,
community and the critical role of the
body, mind and spirit to holistic health
 understands the potential of physical
education activities in the attainment of
a healthy lifestyle and strive to achieve
this goal;
exercises regularly to develop and
maintain his/her weight and physical
fitness;
eats a balance diet and practices good
eating habits;
has acquired sufficient skills to enable him/her
to participate actively in some forms if
recreational games, sports and dances;
gets adequate sleep and avoids drugs and
stimulants that will negatively affects total well
being;
enjoys participation in a variety of vigorous
activities and recreational pursuits; and
appreciates good performance in games, sports
and dances.
Physical Fitness
is the capabilities of the body
system on carrying their daily
activities satisfactorily and still
have enough energy to enjoy
leisure and to meet unforeseen
emergencies.
1. Balance- ability to maintain neuromuscular control
of the body position.
2. Coordination- ability to integrate the movement of
different parts of the body into a smooth, efficient
purposeful pattern of effort.
3. Flexibility – is the quality of plasticity which gives
the ability to do a wide range of movement
4. Strength – the ability of the muscles to exert effort
against a resistance
• 5. Agility- ability to change rapidly the direction of the
position of the body parts of the body from one place to
another.
• 6. Speed- ability to make successive similar movements
rapidly.
• 7. Endurance- the capacity to bear or last long in a
certain task without undue fatigue
• 8. Organic Vigor- refers to the soundness of heart and
the lungs which contributes to the ability to resist
disease.
