POLITICAL
ACCOMMODATION
RATHER THAN A
JUDICIOUS
CONSIDERATION
The result of obvious political
accommodation rather than a judicious
consideration of the facts and the law.
This case may benefit one powerful
public official at the cost of weakening
our legal institutions.
The granting of bail is a judicial function
circumscribed within the bounds of the
Constitution.
The grant of provisional liberty to petitioner
without any determination of whether the
evidence of guilt is strong violates the clear
and unambiguous text of the Constitution.
Mercy and compassion temper justice.
There is injustice when we, as the court of
last resort, conveniently rid ourselves of the
burden of enforcing the Rule of Law
Compassion as an excuse for injustice not
only fails us as justices of this court.
