CONCEPT NOTES

 Literature – written works such as poems,


songs, plays and novels that are considered to
be very good and to have a lasting importance.
 Prose – writing that is not poetry; ordinary
writing.
 Poetry – the writings of a poet: poems;
something that is very beautiful and graceful.
 Poem – a piece of writing that usually has
figurative language and that is written in
separate lines that often have a repeated
rhythm and sometimes rhyme.
CONCEPT NOTES

 Lyric – the words of a song.


 Lyric poetry – a poem that expresses deep
personal feelings in a way that is like a song: a
lyric poem.
 Rhyme- one or two words or phrases that end in
the same sounds.
 Rhythm- a regular, repeated pattern of sounds
or movements.
 Meter- a systematically arranged and measured
rhythm.
 Verse – writing in which words are arranged in a
rhythmic pattern.
