STEPS IN ITEM ANALYSIS

ITEM ANALYSIS
1.Check the test paper of each student and
assign their corresponding score.
2. Arrange the test paper from highest to
lowest.
3. Get one- third (1/3) of the paper from the
highest scores (high group) and one- third
(1/3) from the lowest scores (low group).
Set aside the middle group.
4. Calculate the index of difficulty and
discrimination index.
ITEM ANALYSIS

5. Critically evaluate the questions based on

the indices obtained.
ITEM ANALYSIS

• DIFFICULTY INDEX

• DIFFICULTY INDEX = (H + L)100/N

• express in decimal
ITEM ANALYSIS

H- Number of students who selected the

correct answer in the high group
L- Number of students who selected the
correct answer in the low group
N- Total number of students in these two
groups.
ITEM ANALYSIS

• 91 -100 Very Easy

• 76 - 90 Easy
• 25 - 75 Average
• 10 – 24 Difficult
• 0 -9 Very Difficult
ITEM ANALYSIS

• DISCRIMINATION INDEX = (RH-RL)/NG

• RH – RIGHT RESPONSE OF THE HIGH
GROUP
• RL – RIGHT RESPONSE OF THE LOW
GROUP
• NG – NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN EACH
GROUP
