Literature of the Filipino People

INTRODUCTION TO LITERATURE OF 20 August 2019

Literature is a “window to culture,” that is, reading a literary
work vicariously immerses you into the world it depicts, involving you
with its characters, setting, plot, themes and language. Literature,
whether narrative (short story, novel, poem) or dramatic (play),
provides a stage where you can be involved with the attitudes and
thoughts of the characters. You can participate deeply if you know
how to look at the world with a new set of attitudes. Through your
participation or empathy with a character, you may be able to gain
insight and understanding into another country’s culture.

As other literary enthusiasts confirmed, literature offers a
unique aesthetic and intellectual experience that provides
perceptive insight into man’s existence within the artistic and
intellectual boundaries of a literary framework, i.e., the literary
experience.
