DC/AC BRIDGES

Reporter: Jevan Ayco Calaque

Objectives:
• Discuss the Principles and Applications of DC/AC Bridges.
• Illustrate the General Balanced Equation and Diagram of Four-Arm
Bridges
• Identify the Common Types of DC/AC Bridges
• Differentiate DC bridges and AC bridges
• Demonstrate the Principles, Construction and Formulas of different
types of DC/AC Bridges
DC/AC Bridges
Bridges are very commonly used as a variable conversion
element in measurement systems. It provide and accurate method of
measuring Resistance, Inductance, and Capacitance, and enabled to
detect small amount of changes.

Wheatstone Bridges
this is originally developed by Charles Wheatstone to measure
unknown Resistance values as a means of calibrating measuring
instruments such as Voltmeter, Ammeter, etc.

Maxwell Bridge
it is a bridge used for the measurement of self-inductance of the
circuit. It work on the principle of comparison where the unknown
inductance can be determine by comparing it with a known or standard
value.
Types of Maxwell Bridge

2. Maxwell Inductance-Capacitance Bridge

-a modification of Maxwell bridge

-is a bridge that measures inductance in terms of capacitance.
