COMMUNICATION CORPORATION:
MR. LONELY
FACTS
• Kundiman Communication Corporation (KCC) is a local company with more
than 2000 employees. It’s top management is composed of President and
Vice President for marketing, operations and administration.
• One member of the staff is Engr. Lorenzo de Guzman, who is an electronics
engineering graduate. He was ordered by his immediate supervisor to head
the newly built telecommunication facility in Antipolo, Rizal. Engr. De
Guzman has been working with KCC for 10 years, therefore he is very familiar
with many aspect of the firm’s operation.
PROBLEMS
1. How will Engr. De Guzman recruit qualified persons to occupy the
various positions that will be created, if his trainings and experiences
have not provided him with experiences to do so?

2. How will he able to know the information about the number of needed
personnel and their job descriptions?
OBJECTIVES
1. To make the new telecommunication facility operational after 3 months.
2. To recruit the qualified and skilled personnel for the newly created
facilities.
3. To acquire the needed trainings and experiences in hiring and
recruitment.
4. To know the number of positions to be created.
ACTIONS/SOLUTIONS
• Ask the top management the number and nature of the positions to be
created.
• Engr. De Guzman can attend seminars or training to have a stronger
foundation about staffing.
• Propose the transfer of its personnel from head office to the new facility to
provide trainings or promote some qualified employees for the new
positions.
• For entry-level personnel, the company can rely on printed advertisements.
CASE 6: NORTHERN
CONTAINER CORPORATION:
TIME TO CRY
FACT
• Northern Container Corporation is quiet a new company, having been
operating for five years still and their company is in need of customers
which would likely be doing business with them in a long-term basis.
• And here comes the Red Ribbon Manufacturing Company headed by Mr.
Tapiador which had already made a verbal agreement with Engr.
Monsod to order tin cans from the company. However, Engr. Monsod was
taken aback after receiving a letter from RRMC that they will no longer
pursue the deal because they already have dealt with another supplier.
PROBLEM
• What has to be done by Engr. Monsod so that this incident will not happen
again?
ACTIONS/SOLUTIONS
• Engr. Monsod should make the marketing in-charge explain why did it
happen that the RRMC has not received any response from their
company about the deal which made them deal with another supplier.
• Engr. Monsod should require all departments in the company a regular
report so that he could be aware of how the company is going.
• The Northern Container Corporation should provide a Management
Information System (MIS) that would be accessible by the head office for
a good circulation of information.
