SMART SIGNAL:

Smart signal is based on high resolution data from

multiple intersections and generates real time signal . The
innovation of smart signals helps to reduce traffic and
increases the speed of irrigation . It is also used in sensors
and electric grid.
The smart signals are,

1.Dynamic road traffic signal

2.Smart signal for an evolving electric grid.
3.Smart irrigation using IoT signal.
4.Smart signal sensor.
DYNAMIC ROAD TRAFFIC SIGNAL :

 One of the major problems faced in any Metro city is

traffic congestion.

 One of the oldest ways of handling traffic was having a

traffic police man.

 They deployed at each junction and manually controls

the traffic through hand signalling.
TECHNIQUES:

There are some technique which can reduce traffic.

Three innovation technique that reduce traffic by using
dynamic road traffic signals are,

1.Smart traffic lights

2.Big data
3.Traffic busting apps
 Nowadays smart signals like dynamic road traffic signal
is used to control traffic .

 In this signal , the sensors mounded on the poles can be

simple IRLED – Photo diode arrangement are a video
detection unit which can detect the presence of vehicles.

 This smart signal can reduce the major accident in the

metro cities.
ADVANTAGES:

 It helps to control vehicular and pedestrian traffic by

assigning the way to traffic movements to allow the
flow of traffic.

 Dynamic traffic signal helps in reducing the frequency

and increases traffic handling capacity at a give
intersection.
DISADVANTAGES:

 It increases the traffic congestion ,air pollution

and fuel.

 Dynamic traffic signal increase in use of less

adequate roads to avoid traffic signs.

 Some drivers disobey these signals.

SMART SIGNAL FOR AN EVOLVING ELECTRIC
GRID:

 Electric grids are inter connected complex systems

consisting of generation ,transmission distribution and
active loads.

 It is recently called Prosumers as they produce and

consume electric energy.
SIGNALS IN ELECTRIC GRID:

 The increasing complexity of the electric grid requires

intensive and comprehensive signals.

 An external and controlled signal is injected in to the

electric signal and it is an important parameter to be
estimated in the smart grid context.

 It deals with the sparse representation of power systems

signal.
ADVANTAGES:

 This increases efficiency and energy savings.

 Smart grid have two way exchange of energy,

information and electric vehicles.

 This system can act remotely on network incident,

improving our supply and relationship with the
environment.
DISADVANTAGES

 High cost due to replacement of analog meters by more

sophisticated electronic meters.

 Lack of regulatory norms for standards for technologies

smart grids.

 Lack of official technology documentation.

SMART IRRIGATION USING IOT SIGNAL:

 In India ,agriculture place an important role for

development in food production.

 It depends on Monsoon which is not sufficient source of

water.

 IoT is an milestone in the evolution of technology.

 Internet of thigs(IoT) is an upcoming technology which
is going to revolutionize all the gadgets that we today
see in the coming years.

 Smart irrigation is an major application of IoT

technologies.

 This can improve the irrigation technique and also can

improve the agriculture.
ADVANTAGES:

 Smart irrigation system saves us water , time and

increases food production.

 It reduces weed growth ,improves plant growth and

preserves soil nutrients.

 It increases value of land , income and national cash

flow and standard of living.
DISADVANTAGES:

 The excessive watering may damage the crop and

reduce the quantity and quality that produce . This
results in wasting of expensive water.

 Roots do not grow properly in a water logged field , so

that the plotted plants do not grow well.
SMART SIGNAL SENSOR:

 Sensor is a smart signal which detects or measures a

physical property and records, indicates etc.,

 A sensor converts the physical parameters like

temperature, blood pressure, humidity and speed into a
signal which can be measured electrically.
TYPES OF SENSOR:

 Temperature sensor.
 Light sensor
 Pressure sensor
 IR sensor
 Ultrasonic sensor
PROCESS:

 Smart signal sensor is performed by utilising a number

of analog or digital techniques to extract relevant
properties.

 CMR is the main component in signal processing

sensor. Signal detection technique , filtering and signal
analysis are the main process.
ADVANTAGES:

The main advantages of smart signal sensors are ,

1.Fast signal conditioning

2.Self testing
3.High reliability
4.Detection
DIADVANTAGES

 The cost of Smart signal sensor are high when

compared to other signals.

 The reliability is one of the main issues of smart signal

sensor . They can affect many system badly.
