INTRODUCTION

• Typically, ballistic materials are made of a high strength ceramic such as

silicon carbide or an explosive reactive ceramic. However, by coupling the
plates made of Zirconia Toughened Alumina which is a relatively lower
cost ceramic, to aramid composites, comparative ballistic properties can
be achieved.
• Our objective is to develop the ballistic material and to design and
fabricate an armor using this material
GAP ANALYSIS

• WORK • NOVELITY
ALREADY DONE • Use of alumina will ensure
• Previously armors are made a light weight ballistic
of metals or Kevlar only material with high
which makes it comparatively mechanical strength
heavier
BENEFITS

• Low weight ballistic material formation

• High strength material formation possible
• Local fabrication would mean that manufacturing costs would decrease
• Economical aspect and ease of use of project can help to commercialized
it in Market
