Introduction

Hallo Good Morning ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much
for coming along here today. I’m in charge of Group 10. I would
like to take this opportunity to talk to you about HIV-AIDS.
Okay Ladies and gentlemen we will discuss this topic into six point.
Point one : Definition of HIV-AIDS
Point two : HIV virus infection
Point three : Other name for HIV-AIDS
Point four : Primary Prevention for HIV-AIDS
Point five : Clinical signs of AIDS sufferers
Point six : Transmission HIV-AIDS
What is HIV ?

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV virus as it is

commonly known is a unique type of virus (a retrovirus).
The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus that
causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, a
condition in humans in which progressive failure of the
immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic
infections and cancers to thrive.
What is AIDS ?

AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is the final stage of HIV disease,
which causes severe damage to the immune system.

 HIV is the virus that causes AIDS.

 Disease limits the body’s ability to fight infection due to markedly reduced
helper T cells.
 Patients have a very weak immune system (defense mechanism).
 Patients predisposed to multiple opportunistic infections leading to death.
HIV Virus Infection

The HIV Virus:

 Invades the helper T cells (CD4 cells) in the body of the host
(defense mechanism of a person).

 Is threatening a global epidemic.

 Is preventable & manageable but is NOT curable.

Other name for HIV-AIDS

 Human T cell lymphotrophic virus (HTLV-III)

 Lymphadenopathy associated virus (LAV)

 AIDS associated retrovirus (ARV)

Primary Prevention for HIV-AIDS

Five ways to protect yourself

• Abstinence
• Monogamous Relationship
• Protected Sex
• Sterile needles
• New shaving/cutting blades
Clinical signs of AIDS sufferers

 Body weight decreased by more than 10% in 1 month

 Chronic diarrhea that lasts more than 1 month

 Prolonged fever of more than 1 month

 Decreased consciousness and neurological disorders

 Dementia / HIV encephalopathy

 Cough lasts more than 1 month

 Generalized dermatitis that is itchy

 The presence of multisegmental and recurrent herpes zoster

 Repeated fungal infections of the female genitals

Transmission HIV-AIDS

1. Through body fluids

 Blood products
 Breast Milk (ASI)
 Vaginal fluid
 Sperm liquid
2. Intravenous Drug Abuse
• Sharing Needles without sterilization Increases the chances of contracting HIV
• Unsterilized blades
3. Through Sex
Unprotected Intercourse:
• Oral
• Anal
4. Mother to Baby
• Before Birth
• During Birth
Conclusion

• HIV (Human Immuno-Devesiensi) is a virus that only lives in the human body,
which can damage the immune system of the human body. AIDS (Acguired
Immuno-Devience Syndromer) is a collection of symptoms of decreased immune
symptoms against attacks from outside diseases.
• Signs and Symptoms of AIDS A person who is exposed to the HIV virus at the
beginning of the beginning generally does not provide typical signs and
symptoms, patients only experience fever for 3 to 6 weeks depending on their
immune system when they get contact with the HIV virus.
• Until now there is no cure for AIDS including serum and vaccines that can cure
humans from the HIV virus that causes AIDS which is only prevention.
Thank You very much
for your attention
