INTRODUCTION
• Cancer (Karkinos)  10 million new cases, 6 million death each year
• Oral Cancer  48% Head and Neck Cancers and 90 % Epithel Cell
Carcinomas

• How to Survive??

• Need to early detect of Premalignan and Malignan Lesion

• Exfoliative Cytology
PREMALIGNAN AND MALIGNAN LESIONS

Premalignant and Malignant:

Benign in appearance
and asymptomatic such Potentially • The changes of organ tissue
as dysplasia, • The changes of cell
leukoplakia, • NEED EXAMINATION
erythroplakia, etc AT THE CELLULAR
LEVEL
• The changes of function
• Painfull, Invasion
• etc
EXFOLIATIVE CYTOLOGY

Use Instrument Different types of

such as plastic stain, such as:
Exfoliative instrument, Morpometric
• Papanicolou
Cytology cytobrush or oral Analysis
stain
brush to collect • AgNOR stain
cells of epithel
RESULT

The comparison of intake cells using

cytobrush and plastic spatula

RESULT

Staining use Papanicolou stain

RESULT

Clinical, demographic of patients and

features cytology charateristics
according to different used stains

Exfoliative cytology as a tool for monitoring pre-malignant and
malignant lesions based on combined stains and morphometry
techniques
RESULT
The comparison size of NA, CA, NA/CA

Evaluation of Exfoliative cytology in the diagnosis of oral
premalignant and malignant lessions: A cytomorphometric
analysis
CORELATION

All of procedure of Exfoliative

sytology from collect the
substance of cells until
staining technique is unity

Detect early of Lesions and to

get the Diagnose
Analyes
morphologies of
cell

• The differences of colors

• The differences of size: knowing the Compare with the
size of the nuclear area, cytoplasmic normal cells
area and knowing the NA/CA ratio
CONCLUSION

 Exfoliative Cytology  simple, inexpensive and non invasive

examination  Primarily detect the development of cell 
Knowing and monitoring the lesions  Get the Diagnose

 Staining Processes : Papanicolau stain and AgNOR stain is simple

but able to show differences in colour and size of cells

 Analyze Morphometry knowing the ratio of nucleus and

cytoplasmic area

 Exfoliative Cytology is recommended examination to detect early

and quickly a premalignant and malignant lesions
