DID (Dissociative ENDORPHINS KEVIN

Identity Disorder)
SUMMARY
• Dissociative Identity Disorder, formerly known as
multiple personality disorder, is when a person has two or m
ore personalities in the same body. This is usually the result
of a traumatic event that happened to them when they were
a child.
• He did not seem to be in pain at all while touching it, nor did he
seem to be affected when getting shot by the gun. This is likely
due to the fact that his endorphin levels were very high at the ti
me, rendering him of any pain.
• This is the disorder that Kevin suffers from. His psychiatrist und
erstands that he has "23 different personalities inside him" and
that it began from the trauma he received from the harsh beatin
gs from his mother and abandonment of his father

• Endorphins are a hormone produced from the pituitary gland and the CNS
that reduce the sensation of pain. They can also give a sensation of pleas
ure. During Casey's final attempt at escaping, she shot Kevin twice with a
shotgun. Later on, Kevin messed with his wounds and expressed his thou
ghts with a "wow, look at that...!".

Also called talk therapy, the therapy is designed to work
through whatever triggered and triggers the DID. The goal
Psychotherapy is to help “fuse” the separate personality traits into one
consolidated personality that can control the triggers. This
therapy often includes involving family members in the
therapy.

Used in conjunction with psychotherapy, clinical hypnosis can

be used to help access repressed memories, control some of Hypnotherapy
the problematic behaviors which accompany DID as well as
