Dual Fixed

Regulated Power
Supply
INTRODUCTION
In today’s generation, electrical and electronic device is one of
the basic needs and is essential to life. In our own homes, we have
different technologies and appliances that can make our households
chores easy. From youngsters favourite gadgets, televisions, car, air
conditioner, refrigerator and personal computers are one of the
electronic devices that require power supply in order for it to function.
All devices will have a certain power supply limit and a device might
malfunction because of the fluctuations in the alternating current (ac)
source. Hence, dc regulated power supply is needed. A power supply is
an electrical device that supplies to an electrical load. The primary
function of a power supply is to convert electric current from a source
to the correct voltage, current, and frequency to power the load. As a
result, power supplies are sometimes referred to as electric power
converters.
Thus, the researchers designed a Dual Fixed Regulated Power
Supply that has an output of 6V and 12V using a transformer, diode,
capacitor, and regulator. The power supply converts a 220 volts
alternating current (AC) into a steady low-voltage direct current (DC)
usable by the computer and rated by the number of watts/voltages it
generates. This project is a fixed power supply which converts
unregulated ac voltage into a constant dc voltage.

CONCLUSION
Some conclusions had been made after making the project.

1. We need a fixed power supply for a certain device for it to

function safely. The main purpose of the power supply is to
convert electric current from a source to the
correct voltage, current, and frequency to power the load. As a
result, power supplies are sometimes referred to as electric
power converters.
2. When designing a power supply, be careful on soldering or wiring
of the components in the circuit board because if it is bound
together with the path of the other component, it will be in short
circuit and your power supply will not function properly as
designed.
3. Fuse is required in designing a power supply because it will act
as a protection of the other components when over current
occurs. When fuse blows up, it will open the entire circuit and
stop current through the components.
RECOMMENDATION
Always check for the components when buying.

1. Saleslady might give you a different value of your

component.
2. 2) Use another type of regulator such as zener diode.
3. Always check for continuity before plugging the power
supply in the source.
4. Use fuse to protect the other components.
