EFFECTS OF CHOOSING ACCOUNTANCY, BUSINESS

Introduction
Accountancy, Business and Management or ABM strand is
focused on the basic concepts of financial management and
other things that accounted for. It has different courses under
this strand: Accountancy, Management Accounting, Banking
and Finance, Business Ad., Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Human
Resource Development Management, Hospitality Management,
and Tourism. This strand is designed as introductory course in
Accounting and to Business Management where students are
trained to think logically and how to speak or face other
people, to have a good communication to other people, and
how to persuade them.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to find out the effects of choosing
Accountancy, Business and Management as the strand
of the Senior High School students of St. Thomas
More Academy. Specifically, it aims to answer the
following questions:

Major Problem:
What are the effects of choosing Accountancy,Business
and Management as the strand of the Senior High
School students of St. Thomas More Academy Inc.,
Academic Year 2019-2020?
Minor Problems
1.) What are the reasons on why they chose Accountancy,
Business and Management as their strand?
2.) How can the Accountancy, Business and Management
strand help them in the future?
3.) What skills do the students possesses that are related
to Accountancy, Business and Management strand?
Hypothesis
Ha: There is a significant relationship between
the effects of choosing ABM strand and the
Senior High School of St. Thomas More Academy
Academic year 2019 – 2020.

Ho: There is no significant relationship between the


effects of choosing ABM strand and the Senior High
School of St. Thomas More Academy Academic year
2019 – 2020.

Independent Variable Dependent Variable

This illustration shows that the independent variable is Choosing


ABM as the Strand for Senior High School because this will not be
affected by its dependent variable. The Senior High School Students
of St. Thomas More Academy is the dependent variable because
it can be affected by the independent variable.
Significance of the Study
This study is conducted to give the following people
the knowledge about the effects choosing ABM as
the Strand for Senior High School:

Students:
The students will help them to open their minds and
give them some ideas on what are the effects of
choosing ABM strand as their strand. It will also help
them know more about the Strand they chose and the
skills they will develop.
Teacher:
This study will help the teachers to know more about
the reasons on why their children chose ABM strand in
Senior High School. It will also help them understand
their students more relating to the skills that are
possessed by their students

Parents:
This research can help the parents to be informed on what
are the things that their children are experiencing in this
strand. Therefore they will be more understanding to their
children.
Next Researchers:

This will serve as their guide and basis in doing


their research. They can get some information
and they can be cable to understand the
reasons on why the students chose ABM strand

FINDINGS

The first illustration shows that 58% or 24 students answered that it’s their personal preferences, while 21% or 9 students answered that it’s
because of their parents, and 21% or 9 students answered that it’s because of peer influence. The second illustration that 83% or 20 students
chose that they want to take a course in college that are related to their strand, while 0% or 0 student said that they’re curious about this
strand, and 17% or 4 students chose that they have skill that can use in this strand.. The third illustration shows that 37% or 3 students said that
Financial Aspect are the reason on why their parents wanted them to choose ABM as their strand, while 53% or 5 students said that the course
they wanted to take is related to ABM, and 10% or 1 student said that their parents wanted them to follow the same path as them. The fourth
illustration shows that 53% or 4 students said that being in the same strand with their friends are fun, while 37% or 4 students said that their
friends convinced them that ABM is fun and easy, and 10% or 1 student said that all their friends took ABM and they don’t want to be left
alone. The fifth illustration shows The illustration shows that 31% or 13 students said that they knew about the ABM strand through
advertisement, while 19% or 8 students said that their NCAE result suggested to take ABM strand , and 50% or 21 students said that they knew
about ABM strand through the word of mouth. The sixth illustration shows The illustration shows that 93% or 39 students said that choosing
ABM strand can help them in their course in college, while 7% or 3 students said that ABM strand will not help them in their course in college.
The seventh illustration shows that that 54% or 21 students said that they were able to take up subjects that are related to their future course,
while 18% or 7 students said that they were able to identify their strength and weaknesses in terms of academic performance, and 28% 11
students said that it can help them to sharpen analytical skills that they can use in college.. The eight illustration shows that 95% or 40 students
said that choosing ABM strand has a good effect for them, while 5% or 2 students said that choosing ABM strand has bad effect on them..The
Ninth illustration shows that 26% or 11 students said that they will take up Accountancy in college, while 57% or 24 students said that they will
take up business related courses in college, and 17% or 7 students said that they will take up tourism. Lastly, the tenth illustration shows that
10% or 4 students said they regret choosing ABM strand, while 90% or 38 students said that they did not regret choosing ABM strand
Conclusion
The researchers did their best to gather enough data for this study because of
their willingness to know the effect of choosing ABM strand To The Senior
High School Students of St. Thomas More Academy Inc.
The researchers conclude that:
• There are positive and Negative effects of choosing ABM strand
• The students chose ABM strand in Senior High School because of their
personal preferences.
• They took up ABM strand because their course in collage is related to this
strand.
• Most of the ABM Senior High School students will take up business admin
istration or related to the business management in their future course.
• Also, The ABM students didn't regret choosing this strand because for them
this strand helps them to understand more about our economy especially
when it is related to the business.
• The ABM Senior High School students enjoys being in this strand. It gives
them a deep knowledge about the economy, business and how to invest in the
future
Recommendation

• Given the findings and conclusion, here are the follo


wing recommendations of the researchers to the foll
owing :

Students
• Senior High School Students should be aware to
their abilities and skills so that they will know what
strand suits them.
• ABM students should learn how to communicate
and to face the others confidently.
• Choosing a strand in Senior High School is a serious
manner that’s why students need to choose wisely.
Teachers
• Teachers should help their students in knowing
themselves and discovering what they want to
pursue in their education, career, and future.
• Teachers should guide their students in making
the right decision with regards to career plans
based on their abilities, skills, interests, job
opportunities and finances that will be suit to their
strand.
• Teachers should have, on hand, college information
materials which students can browse on so that it will
be easier for them to decide.
Parents
• The parents should not dictate their child on
what to do, or what course they should take
in pursuing their chosen career in life
• Parents must give their children a freedom
and time to discover their skills. Provide
motivation to develop and achieve.
• Parents must be supportive to the decisions
of their child in terms of their chosen careers.
Next researchers:
For those who wants to make a research paper
regarding or connected to the effect of choosing
ABM strand in Senior High School, the advise of
the researchers are:
• Be specific in choosing the topics or title you
want to make. It is better if you choose
between the positive or negative effects only.
• Be patient in finding the right data that can
help your research paper more concise and
specific.
