CONCEPT OF VALUE

• Value literally means something that has a price, something

precious, dear and worthwhile.
• Hence it is something one is ready to suffer and sacrifice for.
• Values are guiding principles of life, which are conductive to all
round development.
• They give direction and firmness to life and bring joy and
satisfaction to life.
VALUE EDUCATION

• Values have their significance in providing

capability for judgment on issues and
problems to individuals and societies
regarding meaningful pursuits their
inculcation in an individual is a must and
one of the ways of doing so is through the
medium of Value Education.
• Value Education is education for
“becoming” and is concerned with
transformation of individual’s personality.
WHAT ARE HUMAN
VALUES ?
• Human values are closely related to Human
Life, no human values are possible without
values.
• Human values are Universal concepts
• 5 human values which can be found in all
religions and cultures are Truth, Right conduct,
Love , Peace and Non- Violence
• The principles , standards , convictions and
beliefs that people adopt as their guidelines in
their daily activities.

• They are the foundations on which
Professional Ethics are built
• They decide what individuals choose to
practice in pursuit of doing what is right
and what is expected of them by society
• Good Human values are highly encouraged
in society , while negative attributes are
discouraged and condemned in society

• Prepares one to stand up to peer pressure and take decisions

with courage, be aware of relationships and be sensitive to
others.
• Need for character building has been underlined by many
thinkers, universal human values provide the base.
