Skin Lightening Lotion

INVESTIGATORY PROJECT
CHAPTER I
Introduction
Background of the Study

This study was conducted so that our skin will

be bright and radiant but also healthy and strong.
This study also assessed the skin lightening practice
and health symptoms among female students.
Throughout Asia, associating white skin to wealth
and desirability is not new. The belief and practice
to have lighter skin has been rooted from ancient
times.
Background of the Story

For instance, Chinese myth believes that pearls can

lighten one’s complexion by taking a small amount of pearl
powder together with hot water every day. In countries
like China, Korea and Thailand aristocrats and rich people
in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries kept their skin
white by applying lead oxide powder to their faces to
differentiate themselves from the working masses [1]. The
colonial legacy in South Asia is said to be one of the
contributory factors for the belief that white is powerful
and white is beautiful as normally the white race was the
ruler and the dark natives were the ruled [2].
Background of the Story

Although both men and women engage

in the skin lightening practice, of various
sorts, women generally have higher rates of
practice than men.
That is why the researchers decided to
conduct this study about the production of a
Skin Lightening Lotion.
Statement of the Problem

This research study sought to determine the efficacy of the

Skin Lightening Lotion.
Specifically, it sought to answer the following question:
1. What are the benefits of using the papaya-based lotion in our
skin?
2. What are the effects of using organic based products in our body?
3. How can the product be used as an alternative to the marketable
or commercially sold beauty products?
4. What is the shelf-life of the Skin Lightening Lotion?
Significance of the Study

This study helps enhance your look – Even

though lighter skin does not necessarily mean
more appealing skin, it is really about the
personal preferences for most people. Therefore,
if you personally do not like your complexion,
skin whitening offers a solution of gradually
lightening it to the tone that you would prefer.
Significance of the Study

I believe skin lightening is important for people

with dark skin because for centuries lighter skin has
been the tantamount of beauty and success, especially
in Asia, Africa, and America. People all over the world
have been denied opportunities all because of the
pigment of their skin. Someone being a little darker
than they’d like does not exclude them from being
beautiful… but it’s sad that they feel that strongly
about the darkness or fairness of their skin tone.
Significance of the Study

Skin-whitening cosmetics are a multi-billion

dollar industry pushing the idea that beauty equates
with white skin and that lightening dark skin is both
achievable and preferable. The cosmetics industry has
traditionally relied on convincing people that they are
incomplete without a particular product. Yet, unlike
makeup or fake tan, skin-whitening creams base
beauty on a racial hierarchy, fuelling intolerance and
causing serious social harm.
Scope and Limitation

This study is descriptive in nature and focused on

the Grade V pupils of the Ednas School of Alaminos under
to the class of Mr. Jomar P. Allam. The study sample is
composed of the six pupils or the group two of the said
investigatory groupings. The study is based on the
interviews given to the recipients based on their
experiences and interaction with the selected
respondents. The study will last for two days with twice a
day application. This will give the respondents an ample
time to review and observe the effects and the quality of
the product to their skin.
CHAPTER III

h. Add the rice extract and the mashed papaya to the mixture.
i. Add the remaining ingredients and mixed the mixture thoroughly.
j. Put the final product in a tight and sterilize jar or container.
Graphs

This chart shows a prediction made by scientists. They are predicting the
costs of skin whitening products in the future. As you can see, it starts with the
year 2015 and ends at the year 2024. The costs start with 12.83 USD billion dollars.
This means that in the future, the costs of these products will be very expensive.

Summary

This research paper aims to make a lotion that will

suit up with Asians’ skin colour. It was conducted so that
our skin will be bright and radiant but also healthy and
strong. The group researches about the healthy benefits of
using natural based ingredients that will enhance the
respondents skin colour after using the product for two
consecutive days twice a day application. This will give
the respondents and the researchers ample time to
review, observe, and discuss the effects and the quality of
the product to their skin.
Summary

The researchers made the final product inside

the laboratory room which allows them to create
the product in yellow-orange white coarse texture.
You can easily smell the papaya and coconut oil
with milk when you open the container. The
respondents used the product by applying it
generously in their hands and arms for two days in
a twice a day manner.
Summary

They observe that the product is coarse but

easy to apply. The lotion makes their skin glows
and it became smoother and softer after applying
it. The product has a mild smell that can easily
blend to perfume and colognes. It is not
overpowering when applied to the skin. The
respondents eagerly show their interest in trying
the product in a longer period.
Conclusion

The product shows potential in making our skin

lighter and softer even in a short period of application
therefore, we conclude that the researchers’ final
product can be used as an alternative to the
marketable commercially sold beauty products. The
product can be used 2 to 5 days because of the
emulsifier and the baking soda used. Furthermore, the
product must be consumed for the specific given
period for better result.
Recommendation

The researchers highly recommend the use

of the papaya- milk based product as an
alternative for marketable and commercially sold
lotion. The researchers recommend to sell the
product for the amount of one hundred pesos
(Php 100) for every one hundred milliliters (100
ml) in each container.
