2.How has the environment fared in this
battle?
Environmental Impact- “Reduce , Reuse , Recycle”

▪ Paper making process commence from cutting down woods leading to first hazard
of Deforestation. It takes 4 tons of wood to produce 1 ton of paper. The demand for
1987 was of 358,000 tons of paper resulting to greater forest scrutiny.
▪ After the pulp was acquired, bleaching was carried out to increase the quality and
brightness of paper on average 50-80 kilograms of bleach was required to treat 1 ton
of pulp . Bleached pulp produced 5-8kg of organo-chlorine namely dioxin.
▪ Adverse effects of dioxins cause reproductive disorders in animals, suppress
immune systems and travel through food chain from marine to ordinary life also.

Environmental Impact- “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

▪ Use of recycled pulp for paper production attracted the public and marketers, by
reducing the toxins and productions costs.
