HAZRAT KHADIJA BINT KHUWAYLID
(RA)
• Hazrat Khadija was the first wife of the Prophet (S). She was from the Quraysh
tribe and was the daughter of Khuwaylid bin Asad.
• She had six children with Him named: Zainab, Ruqaiyyah, Umme Kulthoom,
Fatima, Qassim and Abdullah. The sons died in infancy whilst the one who
live longest was Fatima.
• She had hired the Prophet to manage her trade to Syria. Noticing his good
management, honesty and truthfulness, she herself proposed him in
marriage, to which the Holy Prophet (S) and His family agreed.
HAZRAT AYESHA BINT ABU BAKR
(RA)
• She was the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr(R.A),First Caliph Of Islam. She was
one of the most knowledgeable women among the companions and is
considered by many scholars to be among the top most jurists and scholars
of hadith.
• Her marriage contract was performed with the holy prophet(S) 2 years
before hijra (migration) and after the battle of badr she moved into the
house of holy Prophet till his demise. She was 9 years old when she got
married. She got married to prophet(S)
• Hazrat Ayesha(R.A) was a great memoriser of ahadith poetry and arab
history. She also had memorized the holy Quran. Her recorded narrations
2210 of whch three hundred are found in sahih bhukari muslim.
HAZRAT SAWDAH BINT ZAM’AA
(RA)
• Her father, Zam'a ibn Qays, was from the Amir ibn Luayy clan of
the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. Her mother, Al-Shamus bint Qays, was from
the Najjar clan of the Khazraj tribe in Madina.
• She married As-Sakran ibn Amr. They had one son, Abdur Rahman ibn
Sakran, who was killed in the Battle of Jalula in 637 AD
• Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) had married many of His wives in order to
give them protection and safeguard their dignity. Sawdah bint Zam'ah's
marriage comes into this category. She was the first woman whom the
Prophet(S) married after Hazrat Khadija (RA).
• She was amongst the firmest believers in Islam.
• She was one of the most generous ladies even in the era of ignorance, so
much so that she was called "Mother of the poor".
HAZRAT MARIA QIBTIYAH(RA)
• The story of her marriage starts when Prophet Mohammed sent a messenger
to the Egyptian ruler with Hattib bin Abi Belta’a, introducing and inviting him
to Islam. Hattib delivered the words of the Prophet, and the response of Al-
Muqawqis was a message and some gifts – Hazrat Maria and her sister, who
were slaves.
• She wasn’t from any tribe but was born in upper Egypt of a Coptic father
and Greek mother and moved to the court of the Muqawqis when she was
still very young.
• She gave birth to Ibrahim, Prophet Mohammed’s third son, who died as a
young child.
• In her relationship with the Prophet she was sincere, virtuous and fully
obedient to the orders of the prophet, because the Prophet was her
husband and guardian.
OTHER WIVES
• Zainab bint Khuzaymah's husband, 'Abdullah ibn Jahsh (a cousin of
the Prophet), was martyred during the battle of Uhud (as stated
above). This was the second time she became a widow. Now she was
facing hard times. The Prophet, by marrying her, preserved her
prestige and dignity. She passed away in the life-time of the Prophet.
Year of marriage: 3 A.H.
• Rehana bint Zaid had been kept captive after the battle with the
Banu Quraiza tribe, but she had been set free by the Prophet (S) and
soon married him.
