JUICE WRLD
LUCID DREAMS
Produced by Nick Mira
Album Juice WRLD 9 9 9
Frequent Juice WRLD collaborator, Nick Mira handled the
production of “Lucid Dreams,” with assistance from Sidepce.
The melody of this song also samples the intro of Sting’s
“Shape Of My Heart.”
On “Lucid Dreams,”
Juice WRLD
explores the mental
anguish someone
feels after
experiencing a
break-up.

Lucid dreming refers to a state of consciousness where a

person is aware they are dreaming. With enough experience,
a dreamer can slowly begin to control the contents of their
dreams. Juice uses the idea of controlling a lucid dream as an
analogy for his mental state; to avoid the pain of seeing his ex-
lover in his dreams, Juice seeks to replace them—for good.
“When you got sleep paralysis, you see things that possibly are there, or they aren’t
there, you see shadows. Some people have an old lady that sits on their chest, they
call it “The Old Hag” and it’s weird, ‘cause like a hundred million people probably
have sleep paralysis and a lot of them see the same old lady sitting on they’re chest.
That shit’s crazy. But the shadows, that’s pretty much talking about sleep paralysis.”
that is only parable, he likens the Lucid dreams, when someone not willing to lose
boyfriend/girlfriend.
“It’s to the point where I love and I hate you"–that’s one of the craziest things, he
feel like a lot more people go through it than people think. ‘Cause he mean, you
could be attached to somebody that’s no good, and you can’t help your feeling at
the end of the day. It’s like, you know that they’re not good. And that goes for
anything, even outside of a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship. That goes with
friendships in the family. People gotta love their family at the end of the day, but
some people got some no good ass family members. So he feel like you can reach
that point on any aspect.
he kind of figured out that he probably don’t know what real
love is, nine times out of ten, he don’t. But he feel like if you
have an attachment to somebody, if you feel strong about
somebody, why would you want to cut them out of your life? It’s
always hard.
Everyone has an obsession, when someone you love was leave you
and she find the one who was make his feeling like “he is my type”
but she left the better one, because you have an attachment to her,
because you feel strong about her and because you have the real
love for her. That is the reason why you’re “the better one”
Juice remember pill popping wasn’t cool, now everybody want some PCP, like what the
f*ck?
That was just him, being a victim of what’s goin on, but he was one of them people that
was doing it when it wasn’t cool, so it’s not even awesome hoping on any type of wave,
it was really a scapegoat, it was really a scapegoat. It fucked everything up, fucked
everything up. Any help that was given by that was very temporary, wasn’t anything, it
didn’t permanently fix anything, it was very temporary, like four or five hours of feeling
like “sh*t” was gonna be okay, and after that, your deeper than the hole you were
before, and then you gotta take more ‘cause your tolerance is built up, and now you on
twice, three times, four times, and before you know it, your like dead. But I guess
where music is today, people just, popping pills is the new weed, overdosing is the new
high. It’s fucked up.
Furthermore, Juice may be
experiencing an adverse effect
of Xanax–the prescription
meds likely referenced earlier
in the verse–which is the risk
of suicide due to depression.
People can see what’s goin' on from the outside way better than
you can see when you looking straight ahead. You’re the one that’s
in the shit, they can see all the faults, ‘cause I feel like, when you
feel a certain type of way about someone, or something, you don’t
see anything wrong with it.
Throughout the song, Juice WRLD comes to the
realization that the pe- rson he was in a relationship
with wasn’t who he believed. Her “drastic ways”
helped him see that the relationship he was in
was full of manipulation. After his relationship has
ended, he finds himself blindsided by the fact that
“evil girls had the prettiest faces”. Her looks led him to
believe that she was a better person than she
turned out to be. However, when she is
outed to be “evil”, Juice can see her for what she truly is.
The part that I like from
his lyrics, statement
that someone who was
gave heart for juice
wrld that full of
mistakes, it is mean
that purpose from her
isn’t same with juice
think,so he gave all the
feelings he felt so right
but she just gave him
pain.
This bridge contains different lines of the song that appear in both
the chorus and the verse. The reoccurrence mixed with repetition
over the bridge brings the song together and lets listeners reflect on
the previous parts of the song. Usually, bridges intensify a song, but
Juice WRLD utilizes it to repetitively convey the message of this song.
