The Lord Who HEALS You!

 Exodus 15:22-26
Moses led Israel from the Red Sea
and into the Desert of Shur. For three
days they traveled in the desert
without finding water. When they
came to Marah, they could not drink
its water because it was bitter. So
the people grumbled against Moses,
saying, "What are we to drink?"
 Exodus 15:22-26
Then Moses cried out to
the LORD, and the LORD
showed him a piece of
wood. He threw it into
the water, and the water
became sweet.
 Exodus 15:22-26
The Lord said, "If you listen
carefully to the voice of the LORD
and do what is right in his eyes… I will
not bring on you any of the diseases
I brought on the Egyptians, for I am

YAHWEH RAPHA
…the LORD, who heals you."
 We’ve been looking at the NAMES of God!
GOD’S NAMES REVEAL HIS NATURE
In the past few weeks we’ve looked at several of
the names of God…
• Yahweh SHAMMAH – The Lord is Present”
• Yahweh JAIRA – “The Lord Who Provides”
• Yahweh M’KADDESH – “The Lord Who Makes you HOLY”
• Yahweh SHALOM – “The Lord is our PEACE!”
God wants you to KNOW Him by each
of His names, to know the reality of
every part of His nature!
Today we want to look at another
one of God’s names…
YAHWEH RAPHA!
“THE LORD OUR HEALER”
Yahweh RAPHA means it is part
of God’s NATURE to bring His
people into the full experience of

His HEALING!
 The name Yahweh Rapha is
revealed in Exodus 15:22-26
EGYPT
When God brought Israel out of Egypt… “Moses led
them from the Red Sea into the Desert of Shur.”
Desert of Shur
For three days they traveled in the desert without
finding water. When they came to Marah, they
could not drink its water because it was bitter.
So the people grumbled against Moses, saying,
"What are we to drink?"
ISRAEL WAS IN A BAD SITUATION
They were a 3-day journey into the
desert and were running out of water!
This was a group of 3 million people…
men, women, and children, along with all
Their livestock! And if they found no
water to drink, they would all DIE!
Then, after 3 days in the desert,
they came to a beautiful Oasis!
It looked like an answered prayer!
 You can just see them running to the water
& throwing themselves down at it’s edge,
eager to get a big drink of fresh water!
But when they TASTED it, they
SPIT IT OUT in disgust!
The water was BITTER! It was Poisoned!
…undrinkable! They still had no water to drink!
 FACED WITH THIS PROBLEM
THEY HAD A CHOICE:
1. They could remember what God had done in the
past! They could have chosen to BELIEVE He
would provide again. They could have said,
“Lord we will trust You to meet our needs!”
2. OR... They could focus on their problem and
grumble in UNBELIEF.
Unfortunately, they do the same thing
we do! They grumbled & complained!
But Moses cried out to the LORD…
GOD WAS GRACIOUS AND PROVIDED!
The Lord showed him a piece of wood…
Moses… let me tell you a SECRET…
Bitter water is not a problem for Me!
I can HEAL bitter water! See that
Piece of wood? Put it in the water
And see what happens!
He put it in the water… and it was healed!
And then God said something else…
And by the way Mo… I not only heal water!
I HEAL PEOPLE!”
Then God gave this promise to His people:
“If you listen to My voice; I will keep you WELL!”
…for “I am the Lord, who heals you.”
“YAHWEH RAPHA!”
God chose to identify Himself to
His people as a God who would
heal their physical infirmities!
 Psalm 103:2-3
“Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not All His
benefits: Who forgives ALL your sins and heals
ALL your diseases!”

Isaiah 33:24
NO ONE living in ZION (the place of God’s
Presence) will say, “I am ill”; and the sins of those
who dwell there will be forgiven

Deuteronomy 7:15
The Lord will keep you free from EVERY disease.
 God is a God of Healing!
He wants you to understand healing,
to gain faith for it, and to walk every
day in His healing anointing.
So how does healing WORK?
How do you keep from GETTING sick?
How do you GET HEALED when you ARE sick?
I want to be REALLY PRACTICAL!
It doesn’t do any good to know that God is
your healer, if you are walking around SICK!
 Three Persons involved in Healing!
1. Satan – He provides NEED for healing.
Sickness is the oppression of the enemy.
Acts 10:38 :Jesus went about doing good, &
healing all who were oppressed by the DEVIL”
If you are sick, the devil is oppressing you!
The devil MAKES you sick!
The devil wants to KEEP you sick!
& he will use every resource at his disposal!
Satan does his part very well!
 Three Persons involved in Healing!
2. God – He makes it possible for you to be
healed!
He releases the ANOINTING for
HEALING in every area of your life!
Jesus purchased your healing
with His own blood on the cross!
We’ll look at that in a moment!
God has already done His part!
 Three Persons involved in Healing!
3. You – You have a part to play!
If you sit back and wait for
something to happen… you will
probably always be sick!
You must fight the BATTLE for healing!
 God’s Part in Healing
God purchased healing for you
Through the blood of Jesus!
Jesus’ last word: Tetelestai – “It is finished!”
Greek: “to do something COMPLETELY, PERFECTLY”
In Greek – In the PERFECT tense.
Perfect tense of verb to do something perfectly!
His work was perfectly perfect, completely complete!
When Jesus shed His blood on the cross…
 His work purchased for us “all
things pertaining to life and
godliness.” (2 Peter 1:3)
“Everything you will ever need in
time or eternity whether spiritual or
physical, financial or material,
emotional or relational, has been
provided in that one sacrifice.”

 The blood of Jesus completely & utterly
broke the power of THE CURSE!
Because of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice,
THE CURSE OF SIN IS BROKEN and
THE BLESSING OF GOD IS RELEASED.
According to Deut. 7, God’s BLESSING
Includes complete and total HEALTH:
The LORD will keep you FREE FROM EVERY
DISEASE. He will not inflict on you the
Horrible diseases you knew in Egypt.
THAT’S THE LEVEL OF BLESSING
GOD DESIRES FOR HIS PEOPLE!
According to Deuteronomy 28, SICKNESS
AND DISEASE are part of the CURSE.
Deut 28 describes wasting disease, fever
and inflammation, boils and tumors,
festering sores and the itch, madness,
blindness and confusion of mind.
Calls them all, “The Curse”
So… HEALTH is a BLESSING!
And SICKNESS is a CURSE!
God wanted us to have the blessing,
But because of sin…
 Mankind LOST the blessing…
and came under the CURSE!
Deut 28 sums up the effects of the curse this way:
Deut 28:47-48 “Because you would not serve
God with joy & a glad heart for the abundance
of all things… therefore you shall serve your
enemies… in hunger, thirst, nakedness, & the
lack of all things… until he has destroyed you.
The curse means you are held in bondage
with no hope, no future & no vision.
Your portion is only shame, pain, torment,
lack & ultimate destruction.
That penalty is rightfully ours because of sin!
The curse is pictured by the CROSS
The CROSS gives a perfect
picture of the curse of sin!
Nailed to the cross was ultimate bondage!
No hope, no vision, no future! Only pain,
shame, torment, & lack until you died!
THE CROSS PICTURES THE TOTAL
AND COMPLETE DESTRUCTION THAT
THE CURSE OF SIN BROUGHT TO THE
ENTIRE HUMAN RACE!
But at the cross, God did something unexpected:
He sent Jesus to take the CURSE
that we deserved!
Jesus came and allowed himself to
be nailed to the cross!
There He shed His blood to deliver us
from the power of the enemy.
When Jesus hung on the cross… He
totally exhausted the curse of death!
Jesus took every element of the curse
& COMPLETELY PAID ITS PENALTY!
 JESUS PAID THE PRICE TO
RELEASE US FROM THE CURSE!

In SHEDDING HIS BLOOD He fully

redeemed us from that curse!

That’s what it means to be

BOUGHT WITH HIS BLOOD!
Galatians 3:13-14 Sums It Up
“Christ redeemed us from the
curse of the Law, having
become a CURSE for us…
…in order that in Christ Jesus
the BLESSING of Abraham might
come to the Gentiles, so that we
would receive the Spirit’s promise…
through FAITH.
 What happened on the cross
was a DIVINE EXCHANGE
 All the evil that we deserve for our sin
came upon Jesus
 All of the good Jesus deserved because of
His sinless obedience was made available
to us

2 Cor 5:21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might
become the righteousness of God.
Isa 53:4-5 He took our sickness and carried our infirmity. By his wounds we are
healed.
2 Cor 8:9 …He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
Gal 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law…
 LET’S CONFESS THAT!
He took my guilt …so that I could have
Isa. 53:5-6 His righteousness
He took my infirmity …so that I could be
Isa. 53:4 healed
He took my poverty …so that I could enjoy
2 Cor. 8:9 His abundance
He took my curse …so that I could have
Gal. 3:13-14 His BLESSING
How do we enter realm of blessing?
When we lay hold of the full work
of Jesus on the cross BY FAITH!
JESUS took on Himself ALL the evil intended for you.
JESUS purchased FULL BLESSING of GOD for YOU!
JESUS TOOK ALL OF THE CURSE, SO WE
COULD INHERIT ALL OF THE BLESSING!
When we RECEIVE THAT BY FAITH…
God’s anointing is RELEASED!
& the power of the curse is broken!
 How to Walk by Faith!
BY FAITH, thank God that Jesus took upon himself
All of the evil intended for you.
BY FAITH, DECLARE God’s blessing as your
portion!
Healing, Provision, Peace…
BY FAITH, choose to reject discouragement & fear.
ASK GOD for His STRATEGY to overcome!
SATAN STILL COMES TO INFLICT THE CURSE
(to steal, kill, & destroy) To enter blessing,
need to learn how to stand against the enemy…
There is a battle!
WE MUST BATTLE AT THE GATE!
We often ACCEPT infirmity too easily
when it comes… we let it in with no question!
We say, “Oh, I must be getting XYZ”
We start taking out medicine…
We go to the doctor…
And when we don’t get better in a
week or so… THEN we start to pray!
WE ARE WAITING TOO LONG TO
STAND AGAINST INFIRMITY!
The devil is like a door-to-door salesman
If you say NO at the door
you can turn him away.
If you let him come in… you will have
a hard time making him leave!
The key time to stop sickness is when
you feel the very first symptom!
When Satan show up with the infirmity…

Slam the door!

Our Problem: Most of us open the door!
When we feel that first symptom…
“Oh my, I guess I’m getting sick!”
That’s rolling out the red carpet!
If you ACCEPT what Satan is giving… YOU’VE GOT IT!
But you DON’T HAVE TO receive IT!
What do you do if a delivery man brings a
package to your door and you see it’s
addressed to someone else?
“You’ve got the wrong address!”
“You can’t deliver that here!”
That’s what you say to Satan!
LEARN TO BATTLE FOR THE BLESSING
To receive the healing Jesus
purchased, we must WAR for it!
Not PASSIVE! Blind Bart… Woman with Bleeding!
Jesus said their determination to resist infirmity
and press through for healing was a picture of
FAITH!
How do we fight for the blessing?
Rev 12:11 – “overcome by the blood of the
lamb and the word of our testimony.”
KEY: The WORDS you speak!
 The Word of our Testimony
Your TESTIMONY is what overcomes the
enemy!
WHENEVER SATAN COMES AROUND,
BEGIN TO TESTIFY ABOUT WHAT JESUS
HAS DONE!
When Satan shows up with infirmity, tell him,
“No Satan! That’s not for me!”
For it is Written…
(Isa 53:4-5) “Jesus took my infirmities
and carried away my weaknesses…
and by His wounds I AM HEALED.
 The Word of our Testimony
TESTIFY ABOUT THE PROMISE OF GOD!
When you feel sickness coming…
“No Satan! Sickness is not my portion!”
For it is W ritten…
(Ps 103:2-3) “Praise the LORD, O my
soul, and forget not ALL His benefits-
who forgives ALL your sins
and heals ALL your diseases!”
The Word of our Testimony
SPEAK FORTH GOD’S DECREE
When Satan tries to give you disease,
remind him what God has said:
“Satan, it is Written…
(Deut 7:15) The LORD will keep me
Free from EVERY disease.”
The Word of our Testimony
SO speak to the enemy and tell him…
“Satan I resist you in the name of
JESUS and I command you, and your
spirits of infirmity to leave!
For it is Written…
(James 4:7) “Resist the devil and
he will flee from you!”
LET ME ENCOURAGE YOU TO
FIGHT THE BATTLE!
If you don’t have the strength to resist
…or don’t know how to gain victory…
GO to the doctor!
Doctors are a blessing!
Jesus said, “He that is sick needs a physician.”
But that’s “Plan B”
God wants to bring us to the place
Where we walk in HEALTH!
LET’S CONFESS WHAT GOD SAYS!
Satan! Infirmity has no right to
dwell in me, for it is Written…
“Jesus took up my infirmities and
carried away my weakness…
He was pierced for my transgressions,
He was crushed for my iniquities;
And by His wounds I AM HEALED.
(Isa 53:4-5)
LET’S CONFESS WHAT GOD SAYS!

And it is Written…
“No one living in Zion
will say, “I am ill”; and
the sins of those who dwell there
will be forgiven.”
(Isa 33:24)
LET’S CONFESS WHAT GOD SAYS!

For it is Written…
“Praise the LORD, O my soul, and
forget not ALL his benefits-
who forgives ALL my sins
and heals ALL my diseases!”
(Ps 103:2-3)
LET’S CONFESS WHAT GOD SAYS!

For it is Written…
“The LORD will keep me FREE from
EVERY disease.” (Deut 7:15)
For it is Written…
“My body… is for the Lord,
And the Lord is for my body!”
(1 Cor 6:13)
SO TAKE UP YOUR AUTHORITY AND SAY:

Satan I resist you in the name of JESUS!

I command you, and ALL your spirits of
infirmity, to LEAVE!
For it is Written…

“By His stripes

I AM HEALED!”
Thank God RIGHT NOW that
JESUS IS YAHWEH RAPHA!

By faith receive His

HEALING NOW!
