INTRODUCTION
• The circulation of air is caused by non uniform heating of the earth
surface by the sun and rotation of earth.

• Average wind speeds are greater in hilly and costal areas than well
in land

• wind speed with height.

• Average power density can be as high as 20 kw/m2.

MAGENN AIR ROTOR SYSTEM
MARS(MAGENN AIR ROTAR SYSTEM)
Construction:
•The Rotor and Generator will be floating in air just like a hot air
ballon.
•The generator will be enclosed in a inflatble structure and this
structure is held by TETHER, and tied to the ground.
•Propeller blades is substituted by Helium Blimps with savories style
scoops.
The turbine of MARS is made of VECTRAN.
•The MARS Unit will have an internal bladder system to maintain
system.
• Pressure of MARS is constantly Monitered and Controlled.
LIFTING SYSTEM
• The heliumprovides atleast twice the positive lift vs the overall
weight of MARS unit.
• The aerodynamic effect that poroduces additional effect is
called Magnus Effect,it increases as wind speed.
• The combine lifting from Buoyant(Helium) lift and
Aerodynamic(Magnus) lift help stablish the air rotor against
"leaning".
Helium gas filled in the inflatable structure
WORKING

• The generated electricity is transferred through Tether which is also

used to held MARS.
• There is a Gear Mechanism which helps to maintain constant
frequency of Generated Electricity.
Advantages of MARS
• Low cost electricity – less than Rs. 5 per kWh.
• Birds and bats friendly.
• Lower noise
• Wide range of wind speeds - 2 to more than 28 meters/second
• Higher altitudes - from 200 to 800 feet above ground level are
possible without expensive towers or cranes.
• Fewer limits on placement location - coast line placement is not
necessary.
• Ability to install closer to the power grid.
Applications

• Developing nations where infrastructure is limited or non-existent.

• Rapid deployment to disaster areas.
Disadvantages
• Also effect Sonar System.
• MARS unit can not be installed within 5 miles of the boundary of
airport.
• MARS is unsuitable for high speed wind.
Conclusion
• The MARS system is very simple to install, requiring minimal
on‐site work. Despite its large size, no cranes or oversized
vehicles were
• required to deploy the system, nor are they expected to be
required for larger units. High‐altitude wind power using
tethered wind turbine
• devices has the potential to open up a new wind resource in
areas that are not served by conventional turbines.
