A Case Analysis on the Philippine Justice System

ABSTRACT
This paper tackles about the 16th Sustainable Development
Goals which is about Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and
how it is important for a country to address the issues pertaining
to peace and justice in order to sustain development. Moreover,
strengthening institutions play a big role in a country’s way to
progress. Thus, this paper gives emphasis in strengthening our
Philippine Justice System, in hopes of contributing to UNDP’s 16th
SDG, and how empowering our judiciary may help alleviate
poverty and combat against the constant war against the poor.

FAILED JUSTICE SYSTEM


Research has shown that most of the courts in the country
have congested proceeding schedules with 50 cases per
day, resulting to a slow pace of litigation that usually runs
over ten years or longer.
It is also shown that there is 40 percent corruption cases
among lawyers in the country and these are seen to be
caused by fear and violence by authorities.
