 What is a Desert ?

•A DESERT is a habitat.
•The desert is very dry.
•A desert gets a lot of sunlight.
•The desert gets very little rain.
•Deserts are very hot during the day.
•Deserts are cold at night.

•Some animals wait until evening or night to

come out of their shelters because of the hot
temperature during the day.
•Some others come out during day but have
particular ways to move under the hot sun.

lack of water.
•Their bodies and behaviors is made to bare the
desert climate.
•Most can survive on small amount of water and
many can get their water from their food.

 Camels

The camel is a large, strong desert animal.

Camels can travel great distances across
hot, dry deserts with little food or water.
 Type of Camels

There are two kinds of camels:

The Arabian camel, also called dromedary,
which has one hump.
The Bactrian camel, which has two humps.

Mongooses are short-legged animals with

pointed noses, small ears,and long furry
tails.
 Scorpion
The Scorpions is a nocturnal arachnid with a
golden,brownish,red shell. The Scorpions survives in the
deserts by using its pincers
 Kangaroo Rat
Desert Kangaroo rats are very small adapted to
live in desert life.
They have light colored and dense fur to protect
them from heat of sun.
 Iguana
The desert iguana is one of the most common
lizards .
These lizards can withstand high temperature.
 Ostrich
Ostrich are the second fastest animal in the
world.
The ostrich is the worlds largest Bird.
