PHOTOGRAPHY

• Shot types- Before this project I did not really know anything about shot types when taking pictures.
Throughout this project I learned a lot about different shot types, such as long shots and close ups, and
I learned what each shot type conveys and when to use each.
• Lighting- When taking pictures for this project I learned a lot about what lightings does for a photo. I
learned about natural lighting and about how to create lighting. I had to use the correct lighting in my
photos to make my photos look how I envisioned them.
• Angle- While taking photos for my magazine I always had to get the right angle for my photos. I became
much more skilled at taking photos from different angles and learned the true importance of angles
when taking photos.
• Overall, this project increased my photography skills severely. I went from not knowing what a shot type
was, to incorporating all of these aspects into the photos I take.
• Some examples of the pictures I took will be on the next slide.
CANVA

• To create my magazine I had to use the program Canva.

• Before this project I had never heard of this program, so I had to learn it completely from scratch.
• Before starting the production process my group and I spent several days just creating designs on canva
so we could learn how to use the program.
• As we went we learned many new features about the program that we used to create our magazine.
• While creating our final magazines we found many elements that helped us make the magazines more
visually appealing. For example, we discovered the ability to add bar codes, shapes, and lines to our
covers.
• I would now consider myself very proficient in using canva because of this project.
MAGAZINE PRODUCTION

• During this project I actually learned a lot about the magazine production process itself, and how much
goes into producing a magazine.
• I learned about what magazine companies have to do to make their magazines unique to them. They
have to use a specific house style as well as they have specific modes of address. Magazine companies
also need to make sure that all of their editions are similar so they can be recognized.
• I learned about all of the conscious decisions that go into creating a magazine. Decisions such as what
will be in the sweet spot, what to make the cover photo, what to title the articles, where to place the
articles, and many more.
• I also learned about how to write an article that resembles a magazine article. I researched many
magazine articles and found similarities in all of them regarding the language and incorporated them in
my article. I developed skills on creating magazine articles and eve learned about how to place my text.
