Why Industrial peace ?
 Industrial disputes are menace (threatening)
i.e., - manhandling
- violent tendencies
- kidnap children of executives.
 such a state of affaires leads to grave of
individuals and social dislocation .
 A proper development of industrial peace
demands.
 Peace , harmony and efficiency cannot achieved
by command .
 A remarkable respect for peaceful labour
relations  full production and stable economy.
 The recognition by both labour; and union
without government intervention.
 ILO remarks:
“labour is not a commodity to be sold and
pass”.
“labour is a human being ”.
 Gandhi also said that
A worker is not merely a means of production, a
personality handling a sense of respect towards his
family industry and nation.
 problem of industrial conflict arises when this facts is
ignored.
 Element of conflict of industry exists when employer
who wishes to buy labours cheaply and workers who
said” to see it dearly.
 … key aspects of industrial peace is
- co-operation between employers and employee
- without co-operation, maintenance of good intentions
and actions of employers and employees may be tough.
Ways of achieving industrial peace
 Nurturing a healthy industrial climate
- managing various government. political parties,
community and society should also play a decision role
in improving, existing industrial relations by :
-placing moral emphasis
-Mutual negotiation
-Voluntary arbitration
 Management ,unions cooperation- good progress.
 Ensuring psychological satisfaction.
 All benefits to employees.
 Effective utilization of all resources.
 Speedy settlement of grievances
 Workers education program
 Healthy and stable trade union
 Proper revision of wages
 Good working conditions, etc..
Industrial peace Vs collective bargaining
 CB is the process of discussion and negotiation
between two parties to arrive at a decision for
setting and conditions of service.
 It is one of the methods to be used for setting
the industrial disputes between employer and
employees.
 With the help of collective Bargaining every
organisation may maintain the industrial peace.
SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE INDUSTRIAL
RELATIONS:
 Both management and union should develop
constructive attitudes towards each other.
 All basic policies and procedures relating to IR
should be clear to everyday in the organization
and to union leaders.
 The personnel manager should remove and
distrust by convincing the union of the
company’s integrity and his own sincerity and
honesty- suspicions, rumors and doubt should all
be put to rest.
 The personnel manager should not fight with the
union to gain workers loyalty.
 Management should encourage right kind of
union leadership.
 After the settlement is reached the agreement
should be properly administered.
 Participation in management.
