makes students become actives
and stimulated to achieve a
purpose.

• Based on the researcher interviewed with the
seventh grade teacher of MTsN Subang Anak on
January, 9th 2017, there were some students that
followed learning process seriously, but also there
were some students did not follow the learning
process seriously.
• The researcher asked the teacher about how she
teach English to her students, and she said that she
only teaching English appropriate by using common
method that usually used by most of teacher
• the researcher also asked the same question for
students. They said that the teacher explained in
front of the class, and they listened in the back.
• The researcher borrowed teacher’s lesson plan that
they used to teach in the last second semester, the
teacher only teaching English by using common
method like usual without any variation or various
technique.

• The researcher wants to know about

for seventh grade students of MTSN Subang Anak
registered in 2016/2017 academic year”
Limitation of The Problem
• The researcher limits the problem on the use
of Index Card Match technique and students’
learning motivation. The problem is
formulated in following question: Is using
Index Card Match technique effective to
students’ English learning motivation?
Definition of the key terms
1. Index card match (ICM) is one of cooperative
learning activity that gives students social skill that
they catch in small group work. This technique is
applied in the classroom to review the English
material or to make students more understand
about the English material that they learn by using
fun activity.
2. Learning motivation refers to students’ interest,
and enthusiasm to be active in following English
teaching and learning process in the classroom to
get their goal of English learning,

• To find out whether using index card match
technique is effective on students’ learning
motivation at seventh grade students of MTsN
Subang Anak
