RAM TYPES

1. DRAM

2. SDRAM
DRAM CELL
1.DRAM
 DRAM: Dynamic Random Access Memory
 It stores each bit of data on a separate capacitor.
 It requires less physical space to store the same amount of data than if it was
stored statically.
 It is significantly less expensive to manufacture when compared to SRAM.
 DRAM chip can hold more data than an SRAM chip of the same size can.
 The capacitors in DRAM need to constantly be refreshed to keep their charge,
so DRAM requires more power than SRAM.
 It is used as a main memory.
 DDR has 184 pins and a single notch at the connector.
SDRAM CELL
2.SDRAM
 SDRAM: synchronous DRAM.
 First generation of synchronous RAM.
 It retains data bits in its memory as long as power is being supplied.
 It does not have to be periodically refreshed.
 provides faster access to data and is more expensive than DRAM.
 It is used for a computer's cache memory and as part of
the random access memory digital to analog converter on a video
card.
 SDRAM has 168 pins and two notches at the connector.
