Understanding The Project
• Collecting information
• Thinking point
• Analysing information
UNDERSTANDING THE PROJECT
• The first stages of a project are the foundation on which the whole
design process will either stand or fall.
• For making a project stand we have to make sure that each aspect of
the project is properly identified.
• Teasing out the information will allow us to research and formulate a
concept.
Design Analysis
• DESIGN:
• A plan produced to show the look and funtion or workings of a
building before it is made.
• It contains planning, function, architecture and belief.
• It is the main idea, theme ,inspiration, standard, sketch and schematics.
• A decorative pattern
• A detailed drawing
• ANALYSIS:
• Detailed examination of structure
• It is the process of breaking a complex topic into its component parts in
order to gain a better understanding and to
uncover their interrelationships.
• Thus providing basis for problem
solving and decision making.

DESIGN ANALYSIS:
It is the systematic process of developing a
design including all the information discovery,
Planning and communications.
• This can be applied to any type of design including the design of
buildings and software,information and process.
• To begin the analysis you have to take a brief from the client.
• You need to be sure that you understand the client needs.
• Some clients give detailed information and for some you have to go
for conclusion on the basis of reasoning and evidence.
Collecting Information

• Balancing the raw information

• Making sure that the client has actually understood their own needs.
• Some of their assumptions may not be correct.
• Doing something contrary to what the client is expecting or doing in a
way that hasn’t been done before.
• Addressing practical issues.
• Some time briefs are vague but you have to make them clear to make
the best design according to the desires of client.
• There will be constraints of time, budget, style and so on.
Thinking Point
• Sometimes you have to think yourself to make better arrangements.
• You have to be clear about the need of your client and make some
arrangements according to that.
• You should not hesitate to question the brief.
Analysing Information
• Its easy to imagine the analysis means an intellectual and academic
disection of thedata from the brief.
• There are two techniques that can help in the process of analysis
brain storming and mindmapping
•.
BRAIN STORMING
• Brain storming is a group of creativity technique by which efforts
are made to find conclusion for specific problem.
• It is gathering a list of ideas spontaneously
contributed by its members.
• It is usually used in the beginning
stages of a project.
MIND MAPPING
• These are diagrams that are used to visually organize information and represent ideas and
associations surrounding a central thought or problem.
• There is no formal way of organizing the map.
• It allows designer to arrange or line the
information in any way that feels right.
• It shows relationships among pieces
of the whole.

Once you are satisfied that you have

extracted as much information from the
brief as you can,you will have a secure
foundation upon which to build your project
research.
