1. WILLOW
 Willows are dioecious, with individual plants
bearing either male or female flowers.

 These unisexual flowers are “reduced,” with no


sepals or petals, and are borne in catkins.

 The male catkins conjure up a fireworks show, with


beautiful yellow to orange to red anthers that then
split open to display bright yellow pollen inside.

 The pistillate flowers are also without calyx or
corolla, and consist of a single ovary accompanied
by a small, flat nectar gland and inserted on the base
of a scale which is likewise borne on the rachis of a
catkin.

2. OLIVE
 Olive, (Olea europaea), subtropical broad-
leaved evergreen tree and its edible fruit.
The olive fruit and its oil are key elements in
the cuisine of the Mediterranean and are
popular outside the region.

 Olive trees bloom in late spring; small,


whitish flowers are borne in loose clusters in Olive Flower
the axils of the leaves.

 Flowers are of two types: perfect,


containing both male and female parts,
which are capable of developing into the
olive fruits; and male, which contain only
the pollen-producing parts.

3. CELERY
 Celery (Apium graveolens) is a marshland
plant in the family Apiaceae that has been
cultivated as a vegetable since antiquity.

 Celery has a long fibrous stalk tapering into


leaves. Celery seed is also used as a spice
and its extracts have been used in herbal

 Celery leaves are pinnate to bipinnate with


rhombic leaflets 3–6 cm long and 2–4 cm)
broad. The flowers are creamy-white, 2–
3 mm in diameter, and are produced in
dense compound umbels.

4. LOTUS
 Indian lotus, sacred lotus, bean of
India, Egyptian bean or simply lotus, is
one of two extant species of aquatic plant in
the family Nelumbonaceae. It is often
colloquially called a water lily.

 The roots of lotus are planted in the soil of


the pond or river bottom, while the leaves
float on the water's surface or are held well Lotus Flower

 The flowers are usually found on thick


stems rising several centimeters above the
leaves. The leaf stalks can be up to 200 cm
long, allowing the plant to grow in water to
that depth, and a horizontal spread of 1 m
. The leaves may be as large as 80 cm in

to 30 cm in diameter.

5. CORNFLOWER
 The cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is also
called bachelor's button, or basket flower.
It is an annual flowering plant in the
family Asteraceae. It bears flowers once a
year.

 It is grown as an ornamental plant in


gardens. Several cultivars have been
selected with varying pastel colors,
including pink and purple.

 The flowers are most commonly an intense


blue colour, produced
in flowerheads (capitula) 1.5–3 cm diameter,
with a ring of a few large, spreading
ray florets surrounding a central cluster of
disc florets. The blue pigment
is protocyanin, which in roses is red. It
flowers all summer.
