CONCEPT
• Louis sullivan , who believed that "form
follows function." Wright argued that "form
and function are one.“
• He believed that every building should
grow naturally from its environment.
• Not only f.L.Wright ,but also many
architects have supported this

PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIC ARCHITECTURE

• The belief that a building should appear to grow easily from its site.
• Choosing one dominant form for a building and integrating that form throughout.
• Using natural colors: “go into the woods and field for color schemes”.

FALLING WATER
• House designed by architect frank lloyd wright in
1935 in rural southwestern pennsylvania.
• Built partly over a waterfall
• Was designed as a weekend home for the family of
liliane kaufmann and her husband.

• ‘Construction april-1936 to October 1937

• Cantilever structure over waterfall
• Upside down t-shaped beams for cantilever
floors
• Use of stone masonry
• Reinforcement was doubled later.

• Wright's passion for japanese
architecture was strongly reflected
• Fallingwater was used as a family
weekend house from 1937-1963,
after that he donated it to the
western pennsylvania conservancy.
• From 1964, it was opened as a
museum for public.
• Fallingwater hosts more than
1,20,000 public every year for
visit.

London Aquatics Centre

• LOCATION: LONDON,UK
• ARCHITECT: ZAHA HADID
• COMPLETED: 2011
• TYPE: SWIMMING POOL FOR
OLYMPICS
ABOUT
• 50m by 25m swimming pool.
• Use for swimming and diving
events.
• After significant modification the
centre opened to the public in
march 2014.
• Site Area- 160m by 80m
• Height – 45m
• Wave-like roof is stated to be of
11,200 sq.ft area.
ARCHITECTURE
• Designed by pritzker prize-winning Ar. Zaha Hadid in 2004.
• The 50m pool is 3 meters deep.
• Moveable booms that allow its size to be changed.
ARCHITECTURE
• Its floor can be moved to reduce
the depth.
• For the television coverage of the
Olympics, the pools were also
equipped with innovative cameras
in order to present the action from
multiple angles.

allow it to use half the power that a
similar tower would typically consume.
• Gaps in each floor create six shafts that
serve as a Natural Ventilation System
for the entire building The shafts create a
giant double glazing effect;
air is sandwiched between
two layers of glazing and
insulates the office space
inside
