• Louis sullivan , who believed that "form
follows function." Wright argued that "form
and function are one.“
• He believed that every building should
grow naturally from its environment.
• Not only f.L.Wright ,but also many
architects have supported this

PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIC ARCHITECTURE
• The belief that a building should appear to grow easily from its site.

FALLING WATER
• House designed by architect frank lloyd wright in
1935 in rural southwestern pennsylvania.
• Built partly over a waterfall
• Was designed as a weekend home for the family of
liliane kaufmann and her husband.
ARCHITECTURE
• ‘Construction april-1936 to October 1937

• Revolutionary design with featured columns
• Cantilever structure over waterfall
• Upside down t-shaped beams for cantilever
floors
• Use of stone masonry
• Reinforcement was doubled later.

ARCHITECTURE
• Wright's passion for japanese
architecture was strongly reflected
• Fallingwater was used as a family
weekend house from 1937-1963,
after that he donated it to the
western pennsylvania conservancy.
• From 1964, it was opened as a
museum for public.
• Fallingwater hosts more than
1,20,000 public every year for
visit.

centre opened to the public in

• Wave-like roof is stated to be of
11,200 sq.ft area.
ARCHITECTURE
• Designed by pritzker prize-winning Ar. Zaha Hadid in 2004.
• The 50m pool is 3 meters deep.
• Moveable booms that allow its size to be changed.
ARCHITECTURE
• Its floor can be moved to reduce
the depth.
• For the television coverage of the
Olympics, the pools were also
equipped with innovative cameras
in order to present the action from
multiple angles.
