CME Enhanced Functions Overview

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 34

Introduction to CME Enhanced
Functions
 Area management
The CME displays the data on the live network in the current data area and displays user-configured
data in multiple planned data areas. It allows you to create dedicated planned data areas and
configure data in your own areas. This avoids interference among users, facilitates cooperation,
and ensures data security.

 Template Management
To help you prepare configuration data, the CME provides various types of template and multiple
template management functions based on NEs and NE versions. The CME provides the following
types of template: controller templates, base station templates, cell templates, neighboring cell
templates, external cell templates, frequency templates, transport parameter templates, and radio
parameter templates.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 35

Introduction to CME Enhanced
Functions
 Parameter management
 Parameter comparison
During network maintenance and optimization, you can reconfigure certain radio algorithm parameters
and transport parameters based on network performance. The CME provides the functions of
comparing global radio algorithm parameters at the controller level and comparing algorithm
parameters or transport parameters at the cell level. This facilitates future optimization and
reconfiguration.

 Parameter check
The CME allows you to check the consistency, integrity, and redundancy of parameters for different
RATs. It can also automatically restore certain data. This ensures data accuracy and validity.

 Parameter browsing
The CME allows you to collect statistics about and view network resources for different RATs, such as
base station, cell, neighboring cell, interface.

Functions
 Parameter management
 Parameter filter
You may select a large number of parameters when using functions such as comparing parameters,
comparing configuration baseline files, and applying templates. The CME provides default
parameter sets (referred to as parameter filters) based on NEs and NE versions, enabling you to
quickly filter the required parameters. The CME also allows you to customize parameter filters.

 Parameter search
The network-wide data search function is available to base stations and cells. If you concern about a
specific base station or cell, you can set the ID, name, type of the base station or cell as a search
criterion and quickly search for the base station or cell on the entire network. The CME supports
approximate string matching during the search, which helps you locate the required object.

Introduction to CME Enhanced
Functions
 Configuration report
To help you view different types of configuration data, the CME allows you to
browse through and export configuration data reports. It also provides
multiple default configuration reports.

 Northbound data management

The CME provides northbound interfaces for you to deliver configuration data
files to the live network based on the rules and conventions negotiated with
telecom operators. This helps you complete operation and maintenance
(O&M) tasks such as base station creation and parameter reconfiguration.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 38

Introduction to CME Enhanced
Functions
 Script activation management
 Script management
After completing data configuration, you need to export the associated configuration scripts for the
configuration data to take effect on the live network. The CME allows you to export scripts in
different types and formats based on NE types, such as full script, incremental script, and
scenario-specific script.

 Script executor management

After completing data configuration, you need to use the script executor to activate the configuration
data for the data to take effect on the live network.

 Configuration rollback
If parameters are modified in batches, the CME generates configuration rollback scripts when
exporting incremental configuration scripts. Configuration rollback scripts simplify data rollback on
the live network.
