Introduction

 Nowadays, as increasing oil

price and global warming
factors. An electrified vehicle
(EV) sales has increase to
replace the conventional fuel
vehicles.
Problem Statement

 However, the EV system capability are greatly impose

on the voltage source inverter (VSI) performance of
the controller circuit in the vehicle. Therefore, a
research on the VSI control technology need to be
investigate.
Literature Review

Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is a technique of

motor control system used in most EV application.
In VSI, types of PWM technique used is:

Hysteresis PWM,
Sine triangular PWM and
Space vector PWM
Literature Review

 Space Vector Modulation provides excellent output

performance, optimized efficiency, and high reliability
compared to similar inverters with conventional Pulse
Width Modulation.
(D. G. Holmes and T . A. Lipo ,2003)
Literature Review

 SVM enables more efficient use of the DC voltage (15%

more than conventional PWM techniques, so the
inverter will accept a 15% lower DC voltage making full
use of the available battery energy) and Very low
values can be reached for the output voltage THD
(<2% for linear loads., <3% for non linear loads)
(J. W. Jung, 2005)
Research Objective

 To create a 3 –phase VSI system using space vector

PWM technique algorithm and analyze the
performance on the power train of Brushless DC
(BLDC) motor.
Scope of Research Study

 To investigate the performance of the SVPWM

technique toward the low power BLDC motor <1kW
(48~60V) compare to conventional PWM.
