 DEFINITION:
 Oval gear meters measure flow by employing a
geared rotor to pass known volumes of a fluid
through a housing.
 Oval gear meters are traditional, mechanical,
positive displacement (PD) flow meters, first
invented more than 50 years ago by OVAL
Corporation of Japan and now widely used for
flow metering applications. even the smallest
volumes can be measured or dosed precisely.
The measurement unit contains two pick-offs
that are circumferentially offset by of a tooth
pitch to generate a 2 channel flow-proportional
frequency signal.
 The oval gear flow meter is designed primarily
for use with higher-viscosity fluids, which has
led to applications such as the flow metering of
oils, syrups and fuels.
 Traditional proven flow technology.
 Simple to install.
 No straight pipe runs required so flow meters
can be installed in restricted areas.
 It is used for gases only.
 It has moving parts which get wore down.
 The flow gets blocked at zero flow due to solid
impurities.
 It has poor accuracy at low flow rates.
 It is bulky and heavy.
 It is expensive.
 Definition:
 A rotary vane pump is a positive-displacement
pump that consists of vanes mounted to
a rotor that rotates inside a cavity. In some
cases these vanes can have variable length
and/or be tensioned to maintain contact with
the walls as the pump rotates.
 The standard lubricated rotary vane pump is a
single-stage pump with an integral, closed-loop oil-
circulation system. The construction is heavy-duty
and compact. Typical vane life is 50,000 hours.
 The pump rotor is mounted eccentrically in the
pump cylinder. As the pump rotor turns, inlet air is
trapped between the rotor and vane segments (see
#1 in the diagram below). This creates increasing cell
volume on the inlet port side, creating vacuum.
 Since the rotor is located eccentric to the pumping
chamber, the volume between the rotor, vanes and
housing decreases and increases rotor spins. Air is
compressed and discharged into the exhaust box as
rotation continues.
 extraction rate: 0.43-560 m3 / min.
 use the temperature: – 10 ℃ and 40 ℃.
 supporting power: 7.5 – 560 kw.
 the efficiency is low, generally around 30%,
better can amount to 50%.
 vacuum degree is low, not only because this is
limited by the structure design.
 the ultimate pressure can rearch to 130 pa.
