SUMMARY OF THE CASE STUDY
– Topper in production engineering Mr.Malhotra chosen as a management trainee in X-look company.

– Started working under Mr.Ravi Shankar In R&D department

– All of a sudden the design manager’s post became vacant and Ravi Shankar recommended
Mr.Malhotra to that post.

– Later on, the management found that the decision taken against the policy and did not go down well
with other employees

– Management finally decided to shift back Malhotra to a management trainee position


MAIN POINTS
– The HR policies of X-look company for recruiting entry level as well as higher cadre
employees.
– It is also the Management’s responsibility to ensure that its practices do not have an
adverse impact on day to day operations or violate ethical standards.
– Lack of positive assurance action from the company acted as a deterrent for Malhotra
which eventually led him to take the decision.
– This was not a win-win situation for both Malhotra & X-Look Company who in their
process of not handling this situation properly lost out an efficient and enterprising
employee and Malhotra found his promising career to be derailed.
REASONS
– Breaking the policy is the root according the situation this leads to unexpected problems
in the organisation.

– The first problem is about the co-workers of Malhotra they felt unfair and mostly
favoured this leads to failure in team work in the organisation.

– The second problem is about failure in prediction of problems which would be occurring
in the future.

– Malhotra might be also lacking in leadership qualities which may also leads to failure in

gaining impression in the co-workers and organisation.

– He was not given enough time to prove himself to the organisation and also to co-workers
Consequences of the issue:

– Both Malhotra and X-look have lost a lot of things.


– Malhotra, who was an enthusiastic person by taking the decision of quitting the
company, has been derailed from his career goals.
– In the same way, the company lost a very efficient worker which could have
added value to the company.
– Lack of experience
– Lack of leadership quality
– Wrong recruitment by management
